Assassins, Loading Time, Crapshots and Magnums!

Hey everyone, it’s Monday here in Canada, so that means it’s time for me to write a blog post summing up a bunch of the content we’ve put up over the last week. There is so much content you guys.

First up, it’s part two of Unskippable’s look at the opening cutscene for Assassin’s Creed Rogue. (If you missed the first part of the series, you can find it here!) Remember being an awesome dude on a ship? Well, no more of that. Now you get to be… a corporate lackey! OH BOY! An exciting video game escape from reality! Have fun waiting for an elevator and being prompted to fix your co-worker’s computers. Truly a thrill a minute this game is.

We still have Ian working in the Loading Time mines, digging out rich nuggets of behind the scenes footage and editing them all into videos for your enjoyment as well. This week we get a look at the process of filming Dirty Money. Did you know it’s surprisingly hard to get good looking fake money? Like, annoyingly so? Can’t imagine why…

In exciting MYSTERY BOX news, we launched the first of our secret projects, the Magnum Rewatch podcast! Graham and I go through every episode of classic 1980s TV show Magnum P.I., crack wise, discuss the historical context behind the show, what happened in the episode and the neat filmmaking stuff we noticed about it! If that doesn’t spark your interest, perhaps this great artwork Featherweight made for it will? It’s available on iTunes and you can listen to it by checking out our podcast listings too!

And finally, there’s been a hearty, weekly dose of crap(shots) for you to enjoy!

Continuing Weirdness from Pagan Min, CheckPoint Hijinks
February 2nd, 2015

Hey everybody! We’re back from PAX South, and that means I (Kathleen) am back in charge of the blog. That doesn’t really change much to be honest. But hey, maybe you missed me a little bit?

Anyhow… This week on Unskippable we have part two of the Far Cry 4 intro. Honestly, Min seems like he’d be right at home as an Archer villain. There’s even a part where an “are we not doing phrasing anymore?!” wouldn’t be out of place.

Ash and Graham guested on last week’s Feed Dump, The Less You Know, for an episode where we finally learned what to yell when you’re sexing a mailbox. Oh, you’ve never thought about that? Or thought about trying to copulate with the thing you put mail in? You my friend, lack imagination.

We’ve also got episode 17 of Temple of the Lava Bears (turns out that temple is a busy place) AND a new episode of the LRRcast, now with even more embarrassing personal injury stories!

Speaking of Temple of the Lava bears, we’re also getting down to the wire if you want to get a Lava Bears shirt! It features a sweet design by Featherweight, and will be printed on an all new, extra soft, cotton/poly blend shirt. —check the new sizing chart here (the lower chart).

Additionally, we’re printing the design without an undercoat, meaning two things: it eliminates the feeling of a heavy screen print pressing against your chest, and it lets some of the heather texture of the shirt through, which looks really cool.

And finally, have you been watching Season 3 of crapshots? We’ve got two new episodes up!

Some of the LRR crew is down at PAX South, but that doesn’t mean that the content stops coming!

In this week’s Unskippable, Graham and Paul spend some quality time with a completely reasonable fellow who happens to be man in charge in Far Cry 4.

If you are looking for Magic: The Gathering silliness, look no further than the latest episode of Friday Nights: White Loxodon Exchange.

How about some funny/terrible news? We got that too! Check out this week’s Feed Dump: That’s Why They Call it a Chub.

The Crew’s D&D adventures also continued this week, with Episode 16 of Temple of the Lava Bears

And finally, thanks to our wonderful Patreon contributors, we have started on Crapshots Volume 3

Loading Time Catchup!
January 12th, 2015

Posted by Kathleen

Hey everyone, it’s Monday and I have some good news for you!

While looking back through our 2014 videos, we realized a few Loading Time episodes were missing, and we could have sworn we shot footage for them. Turns out we did, and they just needed to be edited! Ha ha, we’re awesome.

Anyhow, without further delay, a look back in time to exotic February 2014!  We have two all new Loading Time episodes out, one for Math of the Montage, and one for A Fortunate Teller.

First, you can revisit Cam being really mean to Paul and James for a video (as opposed to him being mean to Paul and James because he’s a misanthrope) while Graham films it!

Second, did you know we built a sweet set (TM) made of blankets and sheets for the fortune teller’s tent? Watch how (hastily) we made it!

And finally, because it’s Monday, there’s also a brand new episode of Unskippable. This week Graham and Paul take on the cartoonish horror of The Evil Within. I see dead people… everywhere, because they all chose to be murdered in the lobby I guess? If nothing else it was very considerate of them to bunch up like that.

Hey everyone!

What a weird Monday. No weekly sketch.

BUT we did just do CheckPoint over on our Twitch channel and as I type this, Graham and Paul are streaming Bound by Flame on GPLP. A new Unksippable went up over at the Escapist today, and I’m heading home to edit this week’s Feed Dump. We also put up a bunch of new Crapshots last week and we’re going to film a bunch more on Friday, AND we have plans for everyone to come in and work on Saturday. In other words, aside from the weekly video, it’s been business as usual at the Moonbase.

There’s not much of a point to this post than to say “hey, we’re still here, doin’ LRR things,” but I hope you find that information comforting.

Anyhow, this week’s Unskippable is Marlow Briggs and the Mask of Death. It’s an over the top hack and slash adventure game that makes God of War look staid and serious. Seriously, this game isn’t kidding around. It comes from the “I’m Gandalf, let’s go school” of plot setup — i.e. less is more. What even is this mask thing? Who knows, and more importantly, who cares?

There is also some sort of ancient magic at work? It’s not well explained because setting up the story would cut into valuable scythe time.
