Presenting: Strip Search
January 1st, 2013

PA’s own Tycho kind of spilled the beans way back at PAX Prime, but we are thrilled to officially announce that we are producing Strip Search!

Strip Search is an online reality show looking for the next great webcomic artist, and is acting as Season 4 of Penny Arcade: The Series on PATV. Robert Khoo did a great teaser interview with Fleen that I’d highly recommend, but we can tell you a few more things today!

We are not shooting Strip Search… we’ve already shot it! In December we brought 12 amazing artists to Seattle, put them up in a house, rigged the house up with cameras, rigged the artists up with mics, and put them through a series of challenges to whittle down those 12 to one ultimate champion.

It was an amazing experience for everyone involved, cast and crew, and we can’t wait to show you the final result. Here are some questions I’m sure you have!

  • When will Strip Search air?
  • All we are saying officially is Q1 2013. Watch LoadingReadyRun or Penny Arcade for updates. It’s going to be sweet.
  • Who is hosting the show?
  • Why, I am! I’m very excited to tell you that I was not only directing the show off-camera, but hosting the festivities on-camera.
  • So, LRR is “producing Strip Search”… what does that mean?
  • That means a lot. We’ve been involved in the organization of the show for many, many months. We helped lock down the format of the show (with Robert Khoo, who did the bulk of that job), we came up with some events and challenges (along with Robert and Josh at PA), and we were on the ground in Seattle making it happen. Additionally, all the final editing will be happening here, at The Moonbase. It’s definitely Penny Arcade’s show, but LRR’s sticky fingerprints are going to be all over it.

That’s all we can say for now, or we’ll ruin all the surprises! But rest assured, this is a show you’ll want to watch whether you’re a fan of reality shows or not.

Rapidfire Continues!

This week we return to the continuing adventures of all our friends in the heart warming series, Rapidfire. However this week we have a special new character to introduce you too- Kate, wearing a beard, and pretending to be someone who is clearly more awesome than any one of us could ever hope to be. BOB ROSS!!

Comedy so fast Kate turned into a man.

Unskippable this week is Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. I feel the name itself is enough of a joke.

HAVE GREAT WEEK!

Taking a break from the Rapid Fire fun this week sees the grand finale of the Jonny story line. Hope you enjoy it and perhaps when Graham has some spare time he can walk you through the process behind the Jonny character. For the time being however check out this episode of Loading Time for Jonny One

Kathleen has been putting italicised phrases under these pictures. Didn’t want to ruin  the fun.

Unskippable this week seeing part 2 of Silent Hill: Downpour — Fun fact, I have no fun facts for this episode of Unskippable, other than the fact that Google Chrome doesn’t think Unskippable is a word.

Rapidfire 3, Episode 4

LoadingReadyRun returns this week to a (mostly normal) schedule after the wackiness that was Desert Bus.

We’re continuing series 3 of RapidFire this week with episode 4, which stars Andy! Fun fact, all Andy’s pieces were ad-libbed after we finished filming A Warning. You might recognize the background.

Comedy so fast grad students are applying for research grants to study it.

Unskippable this week is part 1 of Silent Hill: Downpour — a game so grim and dour that Graham and Paul needed two episodes to truly experience it. (Also to get through the opening of the game.)

Finally last week’s Feed Dump shows up. One week late, but no less funny, Beej and I learn why we would be terrible arbitrage traders.

Desert Bus and lots of video updates!

As many of you might have noticed, last week was Desert Bus. Six days and eight hours worth of madness, challenges, prizes and gifs. So many gifs.

So much happened I didn’t have time to update the blog at all, but now it’s back with a super, ultra-special DOUBLE SIZED blog post.

This weeks (slightly late) LRR video was Desert Power, a parody of Kanye West’s song power, a video that both nicely encapsulates the week’s memes and serves as a handy visual indicator of just how many people are needed to run Desert Bus for Hope. Short answer — A LOT!

Now I want to play Saints Row 3.

If you’re missing Desert Bus, the incredible video strike and spreadsheet team did an amazing job of noting everything exciting, then uploading videos of it to YouTube. Highlights from the entire run are available here.

The week before was the third episode of season three of Rapidfire, in which we learn more about everyone’s favourite ineffectual pitchman.

Comedy so fast neutrinos have a hard time keeping pace.

Of course, while you were waiting to watch the latest LoadingReadyRun video, you should have been watching Unskippable. This week Graham and Paul tackled Soul Calibur V, and last week’s episode was Starhawk.

Feed Dump also continues, although we missed an update last week due to a silly mistake. Turns out I saved that episode of Feed Dump to my hard drive instead of the shared LRR drive, and we didn’t realize it wasn’t there until Wednesday, when we saw there was no Feed Dump. Desert Bus strikes again! The most recent episode is Bigfeets, and the show will be back to its regular weekly updates this week.

Finally we have Eternal Lawsuit, the last episode of CheckPoint for 2012. It’ll be back in January, don’t worry!
