Between the time when the oceans drank Atlantis, and the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of. And unto this, our video, destined to wear the jeweled crown of hilarity upon a troubled brow.

I really don’t have a great deal to report about this video, as it was about as straightforward to shoot as it looks, once we got the props, costumes, and location together. This video was written by Graham and Kathleen, and when the script got a good laugh from the crew upon first reading, we knew it had to be done. If nothing else, it gave us a chance to make use of the nifty chinese prop-sword we got at Garagellenium a couple weeks ago!

Enjoy!

UPDATE: so, apparently in a coincidence of rather cosmic proportions, this apparently turned up on the net this week as well:

STOP THE PRESSES! LOADINGREADYRUN’S NEW VIDEO IS ONLINE! GO WATCH IT BEFORE DEADLINE, OR YOU’RE FIRED!

Todays video comes to you courtesy of our good friend Wes Borg, who not only played the starring role (brilliantly, I might add), but also wrote it! (Brilliantly, I might add.)

Wes cut no corners in getting into character for this role. That’s a real cigar, and his vocal tones were assisted by the kind of assault that only a third of a bottle of Jagermeister can provide. His outstanding writing and performance probably rank this video among my recent favourites.

As far as technicalities are concerned, this shoot was pretty straightforward. We were on location for this video, as we needed an office that had a very specific aesthetic to make the video work the way we wanted it to. There were some fiddly bits to work out with specific shooting angles, and we unfortunately lost a lens due to a mishap involving a desk and a floor, but for the most part we were in and out.

Big thanks to Wes, and to our friend at a local newspaper who allowed us to use his office!

And with this update, commodoreHUSTLE makes its triumphant debut on The Escapist.

In the interest of full disclosure, I do take long showers. Very long.

This video was a bit of an experiment for the lot of us. We hadn’t really planned on filming a full video at the con, but Graham wrote this script on the plane to Boston to kill time. We hadn’t brought the big camera with us (it’s risky to transport stuff like that, and Delta was charging $25 for every piece of checked luggage), but G had purchased a Canon Rebel T2i to document the trip with, and it just so happens that this new camera also shoots HD video. Such was the genesis of this video.

Oh, by the way, I’ll be posting a pretty substantial news item/announcement on this blog tomorrow, so I’d advise you to check back.

Cheers!

You should watch the video because it is up so you should watch it.

We filmed this video several weeks ago, and it was about as straightforward a shoot as you could expect. Naturally, we used the “office set” in the common room of Graham’s house, since it seems to work.

This was actually filmed before the move into our new office space, and our new office space actually has proper office space, so you may see some new sets showing up soon.

Enjoy!
