The First Rule

Welcome my students. Clear your minds, and remember, there is only one rule… you must click here to see the video.

Hey everyone. Sorry about the late update this week, things have been kinda crazy. This week’s video comes to you courtesy of Paul, in keeping with his long-standing tradition of writing scripts based on digging out the absurdity in the most minute details of everyday situations. We shot this video last weekend in Beacon Hill Park, not far from where we previously shot Cursing. Thankfully the weather has warmed up considerably, but it was windy as heck, and threatening to rain throughout the entire shoot. No Peacocks in shot this time, but at one time we did get surrounded by a flock of six or so that seemed to be curious as to what we were doing.

Unskippable this week was Front Mission: Evolved, you can watch that here.

Cheers!

This week’s video is live, and it’s a shiny new commodoreHUSTLE. Check it out by clicking right… here.

Ha! Got you! Seriously though you can find it here.

This episode of commodoreHUSTLE retells the true story of how Jer made Alex’s (and to a lesser extent everyone else’s) life miserable for a period of weeks surrounding Desert Bus for Hope, and the ultimate retribution Alex finally wrought upon him. There’s no describing the vileness of club soda, it’s something one has to experience for themselves. It actually is just fizzy water and baking soda, and that’s exactly what it tastes like, but worse, by nature of it’s being some unholy mixture of the two. Truly, it is the worst of all drinks. Go try one sometime. Then cry yourself to sleep.

Unskippable this week was R.U.S.E. You can check that here.

Heh.

In a somewhat ironic twist, a video about making sure everything happens on time went up grievously late today. Thankfully, it’s up now.

This week’s video was filmed in the basement of the VEC. Yes, the same basement in which we filmed all of daily drop. The Same VEC in which we will be holding our annual screening this weekend! (see below). A big thanks to the VEC and it’s staff by the way, they do a great job of supporting the local arts and comedy scene. A Paul written video, I suspect the genesis of this idea largely speaks for itself. Enjoy.

Unskippable this week was Red Dead Redemption (not the zombie version though, sorry). You can check that out here.

Remember, also that today is the last day to pre-order your “Never Forget” tee-shirt. There’s only a few hours left, don’t miss out!

And finally, if you live in the Victoria, Vancouver, or coastal BC area, our screening is on this coming Sunday! And it’s free admission! Hope you can make it, we’d love to see you there!

On today’s episode, what will happen? This is must-see TV, tune in and find out!

And now a word from our sponsor. (Otherwise known as Graham, and really more a writer, in this case, than a sponsor, but- listen, I’m working with a theme here, just go with it. -m)

The video started out because Kathleen made an offhand comment about using our empty apartment for a video, since we’d be moving in the day after shooting.

Now, we’d already done a video about Apartment Hunting, a video just straight-up about Moving Out, and a reality show about a big empty House (of the Dead), so I was trying to think of other uses for empty space.

For some reason I thought of the complete opposite, and came across the idea to do something about Hoarders. From a the idea of a Hoarder with no actual mess came the idea that it was all a prank, and from there the subsequent reality shows just kept tumbling out.

For those keeping score it goes: Hoarders, Punk’d, Intervention, The Bachelor, American Idol (with a Jersey Shore reference in the stinger for “good” measure).

Hope you like it!

Unskippable this week was Fable III. You can catch that one here.

And never forget, our ‘Never Forget’ shirt is available in pre-orders now!

Cheers!

this week’s video is up, and I can’t really think of any witty, video-relevant phrase to use here to indicate that. Watch it here.

So this video was a harrowing shoot. It was stupidly cold out when we shot this, and we were all freezing. It involved long exchanges of complex dialogue. It required us to shout profanity and vulgarity in a public park, and the public part of that park kept trying get itself in the way, or to walk very young children within earshot. We were careful to warn parents that maybe they’d be best to take their children off to enjoy some other area of the park while we were shooting. The peacock was awesome though, and we were all super stoked that that particular shot was good. Big thanks to Andy for the script (but he seems to go to very dark places while writing… Maybe get that looked at, Andy?)

Oh, hey! Look! Andy sent me a blurb, that I just discovered (not at all after Graham had to text me to inform me of it’s existence)! Here it is!:

The script for this video started out as just one of the many addled thoughts I have while riding public transportation in Vancouver. I thought that “Fuck you!’ (being one of the most favoured disparagements in the whole of the english language) was inherently flawed. It is not only a sentence fragment (very sloppy), but it is also unnecessarily vague. Someone learning english as a second language may easily interpret it to mean, “I certainly hope you will have sex sometime in the near future”. In which case, they will smile cheerfully at their verbal assailant, gibber a few broken gratitudes, and then stroll off happily, looking forward to their prospective coitus. Hardly the desired effect.

I would also like to stress that some of the things mentioned in this script are quite offensive. I personally find a few things particularly offensive, but that was the point really: I thought of the worst thing anyone could ever possibly say to me and then I wrote it into a script. So if there are any sensible people out there that find certain things mentioned in the video disrespectful, hurtful and devoid of all taste, I couldn’t agree more. In all seriousness, I’m just as shocked as you are. Even more so, because I wrote it myself.

Cheers,

Andy

Unskippable this week was Mafia II which got a sneak-preview screening at Tsukino-Con this weekend. Hopefully you were there! If not, you can enjoy it now, right here.
