Ok, Tim here. It’s Day 2 of Anime Evolution and we’re ready for a full day of activities and funstuffs. Depending on the lifespan of my battery and the availability of the (rather spotty) wireless internet, I’ll try to keep you updated on the various shenanigans we get up to.
Hit the jump to see what’s happened so far.
9:30 AM – We arrived at the con and set up our table in the Dealers’ Room.
10 AM – The Dealers’ Room officially opened, and we opened shop. Crowds flocked to the table (well, a couple people per minute, at least). Kittens rejoiced.
10:15 AM – Matt and I went to grab some Starbucks and so on while Graham and Kathleen manned the table.
10:45 AM – I don’t remember exactly what happened then, but I’m sure there was something cool.
11:25 AM – I publishd this liveblog post.
11:45 AM – I’m playing with my webcam and (was) trying to get things working on UStream. My battery is almost dead, but hope to have power for streaming the panel later.
2:30 PM – Found an outlet to charge my netbook at our Video Game Q&A panel. Wasn’t able to stream it, but hope to stream the main panel at 4:30, which is in an hour from now.
3:55 PM – Back at the booth in the Dealers’ Room fiddling with UStream settings. (Unfortunately, the stream won’t be happening. Sorry.)
4:10 PM – I’m having very poor luck with the internet bandwidth. I can’t load chat at all, and the framerate is quite low. I may have to just liveblog the panel rather than stream it.
4:35 PM – Panel is starting. There are 50+ people here (and one of them just left), so not a bad turnout. We’re in a ginormous panel room, though. Seating for probably 300 people.
4:40 PM – Graham put together a sequence of funny bits from a variety of videos as an intro.
4:46 PM – A very excited question about the Uwe Boll videos. Paul is clarifying how the second Uwe Boll PSA was an April Fool’s joke.
4:55 PM – Paul and Graham are talking about Unskippable. They were asked if they were worried about running out of terrible games. The whole room had a good laugh.
4:58 PM – Jer is going over some details about the video game commentary on Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica. It’s been shot (45 minutes’ worth of footage, from two angles) and will hopefully be ready for viewing soonish.
5:05 PM – Kathleen just polled the room on whether Paul was more attractive with or without his beard. “Without” got more votes.
5:06 PM – To quote Graham: “We are and always have been fully prepared to sell out.” This in response to a question about LRR’s willingness to make videos for video game companies or any other kind of advertising.
5:07 PM – Question to Jer: Who was the first player character you ever killed as a Dungeon Master? Answer: Something long and convoluted about Ravenloft. I think Bill, Graham, and Paul were involved.
5:14 PM – Various members of the crew are saying they want people to come up and say hi if they recognize them. James says, “But don’t say hi to me when I’m standing at the urinal.”
5:17 PM – Graham talking about meeting the CEO of icanhazcheezburger.com and “revealing” the secret behind the Nunchuk Fail video. The CEO and his wife were impressed and thought it was funny.
5:19 PM – Question about how gross people felt after eating the Gigantor and the Swiss Meat Roll. It was gross, apparently.
5:23 PM – Question about the “weighted” dice in commodoreHUSTLE. It was done with a bunch of elaborate split-screening.
5:27 PM – Q: “Have you ever thought about or made an AMV?” Graham: Yes, he’s thought about it, but hasn’t ever gotten around to it.
5:35 PM – “Have you ever considered doing a crossover between Man Cooking and Iron Stomach Challenge?” Answer: “Yes. Maybe sometime in the future.”
5:39 PM – Graham claims that Morgan can drink 4 litres of chocolate milk in a very short period of time, and that he’ll prove it on video once Morgan gets back from the United States.
5:43 PM – Kathleen is challenging Bill to eat seven tablespoons of nutmeg. Bill says that several years ago he typed “ways to kill your roommate into Google” and “nutmeg” was one of the results.
5:53 PM – Jer and Graham are talking about “breaking” Ocarina of Time and having a grand old adventure wherein they were flung in the air and drowned on dry land. Long and convoluted.
5:56 PM – Q: “Have you ever gotten tired of the colour blue?” A: “We switched to pink, once.”
5:59 PM – Discussing plans for Desert Bus 3, including projecting the chat on the wall so the drivers and hangers-out don’t have to read off laptops.
6:00 PM – Q: Has there been LRR fan fiction? A: Yes, during Desert Bus.
6:01 PM – Graham: We’re making some changes to our store, including a system where we can do limited runs of t-shirt designs based on demand. There will be a pre-order system where a proposed design will be posted and it will only be printed if enough people pre-buy the shirt. If not enough people pre-buy the shirt, it won’t be printed and people won’t have to pay.
6:03 PM – I was about to make a joke post about something incredibly random entering the room and doing something weird, but I realized that I’m at an anime convention, so the craziest I could come up with would still not be that unlikely. Instead, here are some interesting stats: about 85% of the people at the con are cosplaying, but in the LRR Q&A only 4 or 5 out of 50 people are in costume.
6:06 PM – Question about sending Matt to Twilight: New Moon. Matt goes on record: “I will go see New Moon once, and only once. He is not willing to go more than once for any price.”
6:09 PM – Jer says that if he is asked to, he will run a D&D or Pathfinder campaign at Anime Evolution next year.
6:11 PM – Time to screen Monday’s video. My battery is almost dead, and the panel is essentially over after showing the video, so I’m going to sign out here. Hope you enjoyed the coverage!
Is “borington” the actual name of the feed? UStream doesn’t seem to recognise it.

Go Tim go!
Thanks for bringing a little piece of the hilarity to those of us who live to far away to attend.

@5:43PM
Bill’s eaten frogs and shoe before, nutmeg can’t hurt.

What if we offered Matt 1 million dollars? For him, not for Child’s Play.

The Ocarina of Time glitch was epic.

I high-fived Graham and Jer, it was awesome. I wanted to score some more high-fives from other members, but didn’t get to it. Still, awesome guys. Went to the Q&A, the How to Make a Youtube Video (with a bunch of LRR cast there), and then on Sunday the screening. Keep rockin’, hope you come again next year.

I looked all over for that table in the Dealer’s Room! I couldn’t find it! I doubted its existence.
I never got my Season 4 DVDs or a new LRR shirt.
Where was it?
