Interrupt This Program
June 6th, 2011

We interrupt your regularly scheduled programming to bring you… your regularly scheduled programming.

This is, perhaps, one of our weirder videos, and perhaps a bit of a long walk for the punchline, but I think it works well. It’s Alex’s physical acting that really sells this video – and he knocked it out of the park, which is doubly impressive because he made it up as he went along on the day of filming.

My contribution to the video was shot back before my most recent haircut. The mop is now gone, and much more manageable. My newsdesk character apparently really didn’t give a f***.

Unskippable this week is Mad World. You can find that here on the Escapist.

Additionally, today’s episode of checkpoint is up at PATV.

Cheers!

I have kidnapped your girlfriend! Now do as I say, and watch this week’s video if you want to see her again!

Today’s video features one of the more ridiculous scenarios I’ve been a party to filming. I’m not sure quite what the relationship between LeFarge and Ethan is in this video, nor what event set their rivalry in motion. What do these fellows do when they’re not engaging in felony-related hijinks? That’s a very good question.

As has become the standard for any video in which we require a somewhat seedy-underbelly style location for a shoot, we shot this sketch in the basement of the Victoria Event Centre. It’s a great place, but that basement most definitelty meets all of one’s unsavory-location needs.

A big thanks also to Graham’s mother for playing the role of Ethan’s mother the video. There no one who can bring ‘Graham’s mom’ to a role quite like Graham’s mom herself.

Checkpoint this week is titled “Patently Silly” and can be found here on PATV.

As of the writing of this post today’s Unskippable isn’t yet live, but I’ll update with a link when it’s online.

Cheers!

Announcing Feed Dump @ The Escapist
May 25th, 2011

Introducing the second of two shows we’ve been teasing as “ENN Replacements”, Feed Dump!

Coming every Wednesday to The Escapist.

Fans of LRR will immediately notice the similarity to The Phailhaüs, and we hope you’ll enjoy Feed Dump just as much. We’re certainly going into this show with the same attitude as Phailhaüs: Be as funny as we can, and have a ton of fun with it. Then, get as much of that fun and funny on to the screen.

Every Wednesday!

This week’s video is up, and you can find it here.

Our good friend Cam makes a return in this video, playing one of the more magnificent bastards I’ve ever seen. The video was scripted some time ago, and Kathleen asked if I wanted to read through it one evening when we were hanging out. Given the people that happened to be present at the time it fell to Cam to read a part, and from that point forward we knew he had to be in the video.

The video was shot in several locations over the course of two days. Locations include a laboratory that we were granted access to by a friend, UVic (of course) and our own office.

Unskippable this week is Venetica – Part 1. You can find that here.

Also, Checkpoint Episode 3 is Up on PATV.

Cheers!

The Whole Story: Spam
May 17th, 2011

Greetings all!

This Monday’s LRR update brings us a new character, and his show “The Whole Story”. Today’s topic: Spam.

Paul wrote the video, and was inspired by the kind of History Channel program for which the host wears a turtleneck and elbow-patch-jacket. Running along a similar theme to our classic “Story Guy”, there’s enough truthful nuggets in this bizarre story to make it halfway believable (seriously, look some of it up!). And then you get to the howler monkeys.

Big thanks of course to Derek Hand, who provided drawings of the shipbound capybara, the bison accident, the P.I.G. patent, the bacon bush, and—of course—the howler monkey shock trooper. Check out his DeviantArt page here!

Additional thanks to the LRR maestro Bradley Rains for the “Whole Story” theme song, and the background music, previously used in Informational Presentation.

There’s a brand new episode of CheckPoint over at PATV (featuring some theories about Bungie), and this week’s Unskippable follows the exploits of an evil man named… Lloyd?
