The LRR Music Store
May 10th, 2011

Following on the heels of Monday’s excited announcement, we’re happy to finally bring you a way to buy some of your favourite LRR music!

From the downloads page:

You’ve asked, and at long last we are thrilled to present: The Music of LoadingReadyRun Download Store!

Mostly everything you’ll see in the store is by the wonderfully talented maestro of LRR’s most recent years, Bradley Rains. We plan to add some other gems from LRR’s deep past at a later date, but for now bask in the glory of Bradley.

We’re offering individual songs, or “albums” of pieces from a given video. When a song says “Album Only”, that’s because it’s less of a song, and more of a “musical accent” from the video. We still want you to have it, but we can’t really charge for it, by itself.

Here’s a couple answers to questions we’ve already had:

Q: Who gets the money?

A: Bradley (or whoever the artist is, for tracks added in the future) gets most of it, and LRR gets some too.

Q: What format are they in? Is there DRM?

A: All files are 320 kbps MP3 files, and everything is DRM-free.

Q: Can I hear a preview?

A: Not all the songs are super long, so your best bet is just to watch the video.

We hope you’ll be as excited about this as we are!

Check it out.

Announcing: CheckPoint on PATV
May 9th, 2011

Happy Monday everyone!

We’re extra-super thrilled to announce the premiere of our new series, CheckPoint, and its home on Penny Arcade TV.

A whole bunch of you loved ENN, and we loved making it, so when the opportunity came to produce a similar series for PATV, we were very happy to get back behind the news desk.

CheckPoint is the first weekly series on PATV, and it joins Unskippable and LRR as Monday updates, just to add a little front-load to your week’s dose of video content.

The same team that wrote and produced ENN (Graham, Kathleen, Jeremy and Paul) is back with a fresh coat of paint (literally), and we hope you’re as excited to see our unique take on gaming news return as we are to bring it back.

So remember, Mondays: Check in, at the CheckPoint!

Bonus news!

CheckPoint brings with it a brand new theme song by LRR’s maestro of awesome, Bradley Rains. And so we’re also very pleased to announce the LRR Music Store will be going online today—finally, a place for you to buy all the wonderful little songs and musical pieces Bradley and others have done over the years.

Look for more info on that here, once everything’s online.

But wait, there’s more!

As we’ve been hinting on the LoadingReadyRun Twitter account, CheckPoint is one of two shows “replacing” ENN. Another new series will be premiering on The Escapist in the near future, watch for more info very soon.

So, while we wait for our mysterious “new thing” to go live, I thought I’d let you know that this week’s LRR video has gone live. You can watch it here.

You may notice the return of a certain devilishly handsome friend of ours in this one so you really ought not to miss it.

Unskippable is live now as well, and you can find it here. Today’s cutscene comes from the game Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper.

Cheers, folks, and check back soon for news about our “new thing” here when it goes live.

Bright Ideas
May 2nd, 2011

Here’s a bright idea for you: watch our new video! you can find it here.

Truly I think this video outlines a problem I think we can all identify with. I’ll leave it to you to determine which problem that is, but I’m sure it identifiies one. This was a Kathleen-written video, which will likely come as a surprise to no one who watches it. I had nothing to do with the creation of this video though, so I’ve left it to Kathleen to fill in the blanks:

It is considerably ironic that I’m writing this note about Bright Ideas while Khaavren sits on my lap and purrs, considering I play a crazy cat lady in this video. However, you can tell I’m acting because I’m a crazy cat lady patent lawyer instead of a crazy cat lady sketch comedy person.

This video came about because I was trying to write a piece of marketing stuff for my job and I was really hitting a roadblock. Eventually my brain decided it would be more fun to think of incredibly inappropriate things instead of product features, so I came up with the idea for ‘poet-be-gone’. The rest of the video came out from there.

I really like Jer’s acting in this – rather than channel the standard high energy crazy person, I requested he keep it more muted. When I was writing this video, I imagined the inventor being played by Michael Palin in Vocational Guidance Councilor sketch. I think Jer knocked it out of the park.

Unskippable this week was Monster Hunter Tri. You can watch that here.

Finally, the Desert Bus for Hope 5 countdown clock has been started, and with it, you’ll find the details of the 2011 Desert Bus craft-along. Start your crafting engine by heading on over to desertbus.org and checking it out!

Cheers!
