Spike, take a letter please…

CommodoreHUSTLE: Pony Time
Unskippable: X-Men Destiny
Checkpoint: Tower Heist

Dear Princess Celestia,

Sometimes your friends like things that you might think are a little weird or unusual. They may even like those things so much that they want to share them with you! You might think that you’re not interested, but if you haven’t tried it yourself, how could you possibly know? Getting angry or frustrated will just make your friend upset, and no one likes to have their intrests dismissed out of hand. Besides, if you keep an open mind, and trust your friends maybe you’ll find that the thing you originally thought was weird is actually a lot of fun! Then, you’ll have a whole new thing to share, and be closer friends than ever before!

Your faithful students,

The LoadingReadyRun Crew

Yo- Yo. bro. Hey, bro! Man, have I got some stories for you. You won’t even believe ’em!

LoadingReadyRun: Jonny
Unskippable: Cursed Crusade
Checkpoint: Masters of Code, Not Money

Allow me the (dubious) honour of introducing Jonny. Jonny’s a new addition to our character roster, but we expect that you’ll grow to love him. As if you don’t already. He’s the life of the party, after all!

Indeed, this isn’t the last time you’ll get to see Jonny wax poetic on his various celebratory adventures. We shot this video on Saturday at Ben’s house, and immediately thereafter, we moved to a different (and super secret) location to shoot another! Much like the Story Guy videos of days past, the plan is to have Jonny return from time to time, to recount a tale of drunken debauchery, sexual conquest, and felony substance abuse. You’ll have to wait a while for the next video though. As Much as Jonny talks tough, he doesn’t have a new story to tell every week. So keep checking back, and one day, like Cyclops, he will emerge from the shadows, and shred you with his razor wit… claws.

Cheers!

Checkpoint: Survey Says!

This shoot was extremely quick and easy, and we got to play around with some new equipment and a new location to boot! The office location was that of a local business who kindly allowed us in to shoot for about an hour on Saturday, an we’re thrilled they did, because the setting is perfect. I feel like the papers strewn about and office equipment present lends a sense of authenticity to the video that we aren’t often able to provide, so it was great to be acting on a really convincing set.

The new piece of equipment is a neat little Kessler Pocket Dolly we picked up. You’ll notice the camera move right at the beginning of the video. Keep an eye out for those small camera motions in future videos, because I expect that little device is going to see a lot of use.

The size of it is perfect for our needs too. We can easily transport it in the back of my car, and it takes seconds to set up and dismantle.  These are massive bonuses, given our relative distatte for planning, and effort. It’s super handy, and lets us add these cool little dynamic touches in places we weren’t prviously able. I think it’s found a good home with our group.

Cheers!

Give your week a ‘spirited’ start; watch the new LoadingReadyRun video! (Then watch Unskippable and Checkpoint, for which I don’t have a terrible pun).

LRR: In Death as in Life
Unskippable: Shadows of the Damned
Checkpoint: Exhausted Fantasy

This week’s video was written by LoadingReadyAlumnus Tim Sevenhuysen. It’s been a while since Tim’s presence has been felt in a video, so I asked him to give us a few words about how this script came to be. His comments are included below:

“In Death as In Life” originally started out as a flash fiction story about two pages long that I included in my Flare Fiction: Volume 1 chapbook, which I sell through my blog. I was thinking about trying my hand at writing a video again and was going through some of the stories I had written when I rediscovered the story and realized it would work pretty well as a script, since it was so dialogue-heavy already. The main problem was that it was too short, so I sat down and fleshed it out, tweaked things to make it work better in video format, and added the stinger. The story actually works better in the longer script version than it does in the shorter flash fiction format, in my opinion, which is always nice when you adapt something like this.

I love the way Kathleen executed her role. I didn’t include any kind of a description for “the hair,” so I was really interested to see how LRR would interpret it, and I wasn’t disappointed!

Also, I’m kind of curious to know how many “Barvolutions” there are in the world. I came up with the name on my own, as an example of how lame I think a lot of bar names are, but a cursory internet search suggests that there’s at least one company that doesn’t attach the same sense of irony to the name that I do.

Graham and Paul returned last night from MAGFest, and I know they had a blast – so, on their behalf, let me extend a big thanks to everyone who came along to say hi, attended the panel and screening, and generally contributed to the great weekend. If you couldn’t make it out, hopefully we’ll have a chance to see you at PAXEast 2012!

Cheers!

NEVER FEAR! THIS WEEK’S VIDEOS ARE HERE!

LRR: Questionably Legal Man
Unskippable: Alice: Madness Returns
Checkpoint: Unarmed Avatars

This video is the product of a script submitted by LRR forum member and DesertBus Blog volunteer King Kool. It’s been a while since we’ve made use of a submitted script, but various trips, charity events and holidays have left our dedicated script miners a little preoccupied with other things. Conveniently though, our fans are more than willing to do all the hard work on our behalf! We have a few more submitted scripts in hand right now, and it’s probable that a those will make their way to your computer screens before too much time goes by.

On the topic of script submissions, if you have a script you’ve written yourself, (or, for that matter, an idea that you’d like to see developed into a script) feel free to post it in our suggestions forum, or email it directly to Graham or Paul. We’d be happy to give it a look over. Typical rules apply, of course, (script rights are yours, but the videos are property of LoadingReadyRun, and we reserve the right to change or modify submissions at our discretion) but we’re easily reachable and happy to discuss this sort of thing with you if you have concerns. Some great videos have been the result of submitted ideas and we’re always interested to see what our viewers find funny – not many better ways to find out than to read what you write yourself! We love making you guys laugh, and if we can help you bring an idea to life in the process, we’re thrilled to do so!

Cheers!
