Green

Sometimes a video will spring from the mind of its creator fully formed–like a Greek god, unexpectedly bursting from a non-womb part of his parent’s anatomy. Other times, a video will be written and languish in unfilmedness for a long time before finally being conjured into  existence. That is the case with this week’s video.

Tim actually wrote Green over a year ago, and would probably tell you it’s just an obvious joke taken to its zenith (likely without use of the word “zenith”). Even so, I have to applaud him for not actually using the most obvious reference of all re: being green. I also consider any video where we get to grease up and paint Morgan a worthwhile use of time. You might even recognize those garbage cans, which made a cameo in Just Drive a couple weeks ago — Just Drive was actually filmed the day after this video.

Hope you all enjoy it as much as we do! Thanks especially to Cherisse and Tally for helping us out on a busy Friday!

So the video’s up, and can be viewed right here: Just Drive

I’d like to claim that no bicycles were harmed in the making of this video, but sadly, that is not the case. You see, the cycle we ride through the middle of this video was, in fact, the understudy of the bike we had planned to use.

The original was my road bike – the one I use to get to work sometimes. It’s not much to look at, being a hand-me-down 12-speed that I got for free, but it’s a dear friend. Before we began the bike scene, we practiced a little bit, just to make sure it would work and would look ok. Look ok, it did. Work, it did not. The first time I put foot to pedal, with Ben sitting on the back, the bike began to roll, and then lurched to a halt. The weight of two riders was too much for the bike to bear, and the rear rim bent completely out of shape. Naturally, this greivous injury precluded my bikes participation in the video, so I trotted off to grab my mountain bike as an alternative.

All in all, though, beteen the cop hats and the 70$ I had to spend on a new rim for my bike, I think this may have been one of our higher-budget videos. :p

Damaged bike aside, this was a really fun shoot. We may have some pictures, but I don’t presently have access to them. If we do, I’ll add them to this post later this afternoon.
