Re: Badly Broken
I see, it's a shame you weren't able to watch it with everyone else. This article might put into perspective why the show was so darn popular and why people couldn't shut up about it. In addition to simply being a great show, almost everything in the story fit together like clockwork. There were cle...

So now that Breaking Bad is over I guess the hipster thing to do now is say you didn't watch it?

Re: Season 2, Ep. 1 - God of Gore
It's a delightful shorthand, and it turns out that companies pull "trollface"-worthy shit all the time. It's definitely appropriate for a lot of the things game companies do, but it's not always appropriate for the graphics used in Checkpoint's news segments. More often than not it just l...

Re: Katawa Shoujo
Back to Katawa Shoujo I've done four of the paths - I haven't done Rin's yet. I'm not quite prepared for that level of crazy. Save Rin's for last, it's easily the best thing in there. It's the closest thing a cripple girl VN will get to having legitimate comparisons to A Beautiful Mind. I didn't re...

Re: Katawa Shoujo
Saya no Uta was quite memorable for its Lovecraftian narrative. The only thing really Japanese about it was the character design for the main girl, but seeing is how that's what she looks like from the perspective of a Japanese man it kinda makes sense in an odd sort of way.

Toonami gave it an 8.5 last night during Adult Swim's April Fools thing. It was kinda funny hearing the voice of Grunt (Same VO for Toonami's bumps) admit the ending sucked.

Re: SMT/Persona
Oh man, Natural Dancer could put a few Dark Souls bosses to shame. That fight wasn't frustrating at all . What I usually do is run straight through to all the bosses and unlock the teleport locations, then after reaching the barrier I go back and pick up whatever quests Elizabeth has for the area. I...

@Bacon: It's funny reading your comment right after getting through that hilarious failure known as "Operation Babe Hunt." I just hope poor Junpei is okay with his new sexuality. @EikoandMog: I think most of the difficulty has to do with the dungeon crawling nature of the Tartarus and the ...

SMT/Persona
So I've always wanted to try out the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series but I haven't really had the opportunity until recently. I really like it, the combat has a nice blend of "lets get this over with" stuff like the all-out attacks and a Pokemon style element system which adds some depth...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
The full statement by Ray Muzyka can be read here . It reads to me like they're going to work within the constraints of their current ending, but will probably add more dialog options for the star child. It's a bit disappointing but completely understandable, there's no way they have the resources t...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
@madAlric: If Bethesda could add a new ending to Fallout 3 I don't see why Bioware wouldn't be able to do the same. It wasn't handled perfectly, but I did like the fact they added in a "smart" ending where you overcome the dilemma by sending in the companion who's immune to radiation. It f...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
@Kthanid: Not quite, games are more like the culmination of all other art forms. :P Anyway, the outrage isn't so much people are mad that some character died, it's that the ending kinda goes against everything established over the last 150+ hours of gameplay in all three games. @Master Gunner: While...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
@Graham: Yes I can, and I just did. Would you like to join the discussion and explain why you think otherwise? I think the soup analogy at least makes more sense than the Star Wars analogy. If you want to take analogies to the extreme you could say the "star child" is to Mass Effect as mid...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
I have actually found a dead fly at the end of a tasty soup (and less-tasty cereal, another time). I did a double take, put it aside, and grabbed something else to eat. Were I at a restaurant, I would have asked for my money back, but only because it's something I was eating . I've seen plenty of m...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
So what does the last 15 minutes matter? If the ending bugs you that much, just turn off your console when you get to that point, and do what we did back in the old days when an ending disappointed us. Write fan fiction to fix it. Endings matter. Think about it like this: you're eating a delicious ...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
Sorry I was replying to the person above you but it seems to fit your post as well. Me? Quotes, man, quotes! What I understand from the bits and pieces of information which have come out, the current ending isn't quite what Bioware originally wanted to tell in the first place. Apparently both Mass ...

Re: Episode 46 - The Masses Are Effected
I don't really understand how LRR could back Bioware on the Mass Effect fiasco. Video games are an interactive art form, they aren't like movies or music where you just sit back and absorb something. Players have an active role in shaping the story, especially so in the Mass Effect games. There's al...

Re: Violence in videogames
I think daytime tv, anything on MTV, and shows like CSI are much worse than video games. Whenever I see one of them on it's always about a pregnant 14-year-old, a triple murder/rape/suicide, kiddy porn dungeons, and so on. A little bit of blue side boob or green blood in Mass Effect hardly seems lik...

Re: Greatest game designer currently working: Your call?
I'd have to say Hidetaka Miyazaki because Dark Souls is such an expansive and well-crafted experience. Nearly everything in that game has unique properties and is there for a reason. It's really amazing how complex the combat is while at the same time having such tight controls.
