Re: Doctor Who

I also quite liked it. The parallel between the dalek scrounging up Sheffield stuff to make its case and the Doctor making her sonic screwdriver made me happy.

Re: Doctor Who

So the issue with the Rani is that the Beeb doesn't have rights to her character. They have a related but separate issue with the daleks; they have the rights to use them as long as they appear at least once each season. (This is the main reason I suspect it's them we'll see on New Year's.)

Re: Doctor Who

Interesting.

I don't understand why it's never Susan. Has there been a rights issue, like with the Rani?

Enigma of the Startunnels!!!

We're using the Fate Core system for most of the rules for this campaign. These rules are available as a pay-what-you-want download from Evil Hat Games: http://www.evilhat.com/home/wp-content/uploads/FateCore.zip You don't have to know the rules of the game in order to follow the events of the adven...

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

My pleasure! Some questions (eg "What's a skungler?") won't get answered here, but for the types of questions you asked I'm generally happy to ramble on. :)

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

Thank-you everybody for the kind words! I'm glad people enjoyed the stream! Do you have a listing of the cool items you handed out? I am starting a campaign this friday and really liked them. I don't have a list, but this is clearly something I'm going to have to compile. Some of them were just vari...

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

Here are the rules for hang gliding off the plateau and reaching the fallen suspension bridge. Hang Gliding Off the Plateau Checks are made with either Acrobatics or Athletics. Your target number is 10. If you fail by 5 or more then dire things happen. If you fail by less than 5 then you may immedia...

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

Thanks for the kind words! The Semolo Plateau wiki page has a review of the stuff said about the setting as well as a partial character list (that probably needs updating by now, if you're feeling bored.

As for Morra, you'll have to ask Kathleen! :D

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

(This is the handout I gave Paul about the details of him being framed.) Dande Was Framed While in prison you’ve had a lot of time to think about the incident that landed you there. You arrived at the plateau just in time for a big party; the mayor’s sister was getting married to the son of a chief ...

Re: Escape From Semolo Plateau

Here's the list of "nuts & berries" the PCs were sent to gather. The mayor wishes you to gather the following things: [ ] enough sweet white halna berries for a large dessert [ ] at least seven white necronof berries [ ] honey [ ] twelve large marobo tree leaves (keep them pretty) [ ] ...

Escape From Semolo Plateau

People wanted to see the custom backgrounds that I made for the game, so here they are: Conservationist Many of the people in Faerûn look at the way that the Chultans treat their environment and take it upon themselves to put a stop to practices they find objectionable. They often pay locals to do t...

Re: Doctor Who

I liked the focus on the companions (the "posse") in Dinosaurs On a Spaceship. RTD had a companion focus that Moffat lacked, I think, and maybe we'll see more of that now.

Re: Doctor Who

She is the fourteenth incarnation of this particular Time Lord, but only the thirteenth to use the name "The Doctor". Peter Capaldi's character is the twelfth Doctor, so this just follows from that.

Re: Doctor Who

It's a longstanding tradition that the Master is killed off "permanently" and then he just shows up again and it isn't explained. Admittedly New Who hasn't done as much of that, but there's still plenty of precedent. If they feel the need to explain it they could say that ...

I guess to do them justice I'll have to finish with the Sarah Jane Adventures story where Jo showed up and the two of them reminisced about Peladon. :D I agree that the Jo story was the better of the two originals.

I looked it up, and it's about two thousand years later. It's about Peladon joining the Federation, which is the political entity that rose up when the First Great and Bountiful Human Empire disintegrated in the wake of the sun's solar flare problem. Curse of Peladon is roughly contemporary with The...

Interesting twist this week. It would be kind of cool if that persisted until regeneration.
