Re: Doctor Who
Nardole and co. couldn't go up the lift, because as they travelled up the lift, their travel time relative to the Cybermen downstairs would be vastly extended, and by the time they get to the top, there could be Cybermen coming out of the lifts within seconds, all of which are highly advanced, ...

Re: Doctor Who
Not quite a magic reset button, but not far off it... I'm guessing a Cyber-Master might be the next appearance of the Master in a couple years time. I don't quite understand why Nardol & co didn't head right to the top of the ship in the elevator - he does know how to fly the Tardis ...

Re: Doctor Who
knowing John Simm was coming back, it only took me till his 2nd scene to twig it was him in disguise. Didn't stop me enjoying it, don't think they did a particularly good job of emphasising just how long Bill had waited for. Very interested to see what comes in the finale and Christmas special, whi...

Re: Doctor Who
I think this series is going well. Bill has settled in nicely. Interesting having effectively a 3-parter in the middle of the series. Sticking the Missy flashback in did feel a little irrelevant to the actual episode though, presumably groundwork for what's to come. I was actually disappointed t...

Re: Doctor Who
The Pilot was good fun, I liked the gradual progression of the story over a couple months angle. Bill seems like she'll make a good companion, but I think Nardol sticking around is a good addition as well.

Re: The Big Relationship Thread
I know this feeling all to well, and it often feels like you're the reason but it's not. Online dating sites/apps are full of issues. My spouse set up one before we met stating "looking for friends" and before she even got a profile up had a lot of messages and BS from people (Especially ...

Re: The Big Relationship Thread
There is little that feels quite as personally galling with online dating than matching with a women whose bio sounds like an excellent match of interests to you (listing several of the same things on my own bio), saying hi and asking a relevant question about your shared interests - then the next t...

Re: Qwerpline tote question
just received mine here in the UK, contains everything as far as i'm aware. I am a little baffled though on two items: 1) why the envelopes with the postcards? That just seems unnecessarily wasteful? 2) It seems a shame with all the effort gone into this that the Raymond's Talc Barn magnet has on it...

I've been busy the past month so i'm super behind on all sorts of tv, got Class all recorded and ready to watch though. Intrigued but going in with zero expectations.
Also new teaser clip for Christmas special looks... like something. Looks like something a bit different.

Re: Describe your last tabletop session
Dark Heresy session today: Our team was down to three, one of whom was unconscious from flamer damage, we've clambered into our car to try and go back into hiding. The Big BadTM arrives in a gunship that hovers over us. He's standing on the ramp about to start gloating about something, I interject b...

Re: The Big Relationship Thread
So I just had my first date in about 3 years (at least, God does time fly). And that last date was a bit of a dud, so not only was I feeling outstandingly rusty, but my handful of past experiences weren't roaring successes either. It all went well enough I think, despite the slightly awkward start o...

Re: The Force Awakens.
I really hope that Rey isn't a Skywalker. I think its a lot more interesting if she isn't Luke or Leia's daughter. Just someone else who has a strong connection with the force. We have already had 6 movies about Skywalkers, its time someone else tried to save the galaxy. Yes yes yes yes...

Your 5 2015 favourites
Any medium, any format - not necessarily things that came out this year, but that you discovered this year. Name just 5 that you would recommend or found the most enjoyment in. You can be as detailed as you like in explaining your choices or give no explanations at all like myself. Here's mine: Mad ...

Just saw that toy advert on facebook that I mentioned above that had the noteworthy spoiler again. It's from Disney no less! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v244/theonlymisterme/Mobile%20Uploads/screen-capture-2_zpsdhmvjkpp.jpg People keep talking about "the captain Phasma hype". What hy...

Re: The Force Awakens.
I enjoyed it, dramatic and funny in all the right places. And whilst I had been reading a fair amount of the rumours and speculations in the months prior, I'd deliberately avoided the proper spoilers and made a point of not watching the new trailers after the original teaser and the first trailer. S...

Re: Doctor Who
some finale thoughts: So I think Clara running off with her own Tardis and not facing death is the only truly daft bit, the rest I can pretty much cope with. I think it would have been far far better if the Clara the Doctor was telling the story to was in fact just another of the many "reincarn...

Re: Doctor Who
The previous episode ended with the threat of the Doctor being teleported someplace nasty, and the demand that he hand over his Confession Dial. I suppose that does add up, but I think a little more explanation as to why someone went to all that trouble is still to come in the finale - especially a...

Re: Doctor Who
Well that was an interesting episode, not entirely sure there was an explanation of how he actually ended up inside the confession dial, or rather whose machinations caused that. The best I can figure is that the teleport placed him into his own confession dial, which itself then creates a portal ba...

Re: Doctor Who
One thing I think would have fixed a lot of the contrivance is to cut Rigsy out of the equation, and have Clara start with the timer, then just say it's irrevocable. That's not Ashjildar's style though, she wouldn't just choose to kill someone like Clara she knows she's had posi...

Re: Doctor Who
well that sure was an episode... not sure what I think of it yet, but you couldn't have much more finality to Clara's part than that. I do like that they had been emphasising her gung-ho-ness more and more in recent episodes, with the Doctor even commenting on it at some points, which seemed fitting...

Re: Doctor Who
Colony Sarf is yet another example of Moffat's frequent problem from the last 2 years - great villain concepts utterly wasted as unimportant bit-parts used to make the trailers more exciting. But yes, an interesting episode, but felt a bit crammed into the time limit. Hand mines. Brilliantly simple ...

I have thought a couple times about pulling a team together, really need to make sure you've got people experienced in different areas of life and culture though.

Re: Current Musical Obsession!
The Race For Space - Public Service Broadcasting A brilliant album that tracks the US/Soviet space race from Kennedy's "this decade" speech to the final Apollo moon landing. As is PSBs style, the music heavily features audio samples from speeches, tv reports and NASA CapCom audio logs. Sta...
