Re: TTC - Fate Reforged & Ugin Boosters
I will echo the previous comment: Graham expressed disappoinent in a product, not you. The product is something which, while you may like it, should not be tied at all to ones sense of self as it is (like Magic, My Little Pony, and liking Metal Music) not important in the grand scheme of things. If ...

For those who like Alien and Lovecraft, and play Call of Cthulhu this might be something worth looking at.

The North American symbol for medicine is the Caduceus, which was the herald staff of Hermes, but the 'medical symbol' which looks like it is the Rod of Asclepius which had medical powers. Both were staves with snakes on them.

Re: Interest in starting an Online LRR DnD group.
Interested, but not sure how likely it'll be that I can actually play. I too, however, will vouch for Roll20. I use the site regularly with Arcanis groups as I haven't found a local group to play with in Edmonton. We usually use G+ Hangouts for the chat because, as Jamfalcon says, the built-in voice...

Re: Top 5 Boardgames
Arkham definitely falls into that Epic Game zone I like, and I recommend everyone play it. Alas, it is like Twilight Imperium (or even Eclipse) in the "you should play it, but probably only 1 in 6 should BUY it". It is big, expensive (especially with the expansions), and can be a bit unint...

Re: Top 5 Boardgames
For me it is a balance between complexity and playability. Without a traitor, SoC is more complex without adding anything really to gameplay. As much as I like sweeping games and theme, each piece has to serve a purpose. Pandemic may be a bit linear, but it is a tight game with simple mechanics with...

Re: Top 5 Boardgames
I really like Betrayal, and to be honest I like Pandemic more than SoC. Then again, I haven't lost a game of Pandemic in 2 years (though it is almost always close)

Re: Sorry to Interrupt
Amusing video, though I do see all the people's criticism. I do think that it would have been better if you managed to maintain the costumes of the "Cam" character (Alex -> Cam -> Kathleen) all the way through, but such is life.

Re: Corrector's Commentary - Prometheus 2012
Maybe I simply exist in an echo chamber where I only frequent sites/hear from people who agree with me on this subject, but does anyone else find it odd how the wikipedia page for this movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus_(2012_film)#Release) really doesn't contain ANY negative feedback on...

Speaking as someone who isn't on Twitter and generally doesn't see the appeal of Twitting, I must admit that the use of 'finger hashtags' filled me with an unhealthy amount of rage at the continued erosion of the spoken language.

Top 5 Boardgames
Okay, here's the question:
Pick 5 boardgames that everyone should own instead of the 'typical' games such as monopoly.
1) Settlers of Catan
2) Ticket to Ride
3) Tales of the Arabian Nights
4) Lords of Waterdeep
5) Guillotine
What games are on your 'everyone should own' list?

Re: Favorite RPG setting?
Arcanis, both in the 3.5 version and PCI's present home-grown rules.
I am fascinated by Shadowrun as well, and have been engrossed in Battletech since the '90's. Alas, I've never RP'd in either of those.

Re: LRRcast for 2014-07-18
Slytherin's main trait isn't evil: it is ambition. Slytherins lust for power, prestige, authority, and influence. This means that the people who get in are from families with power (ie: purebloods) or those with none who dream of having some (ie: Snape). They are not brave like Gryffindors as it doe...

Re: LRRcast for 2014-07-18
I will grant you that HP does it WAY better than a lot of equivalent fiction types, but I still hold that many of the characters are fairly one-note. Harry has some personality, and shows his 'age' better than most. Hermione is a little TOO perfect almost all the way through and comes off to me as a...

Re: LRRcast for 2014-07-18
I have to agree, Snape was evil. Yes, we did get to find out he had more depth to his character LATER, but even with the reveal we see that his essential personality was not an act he put on. He ultimately was working for the good, but it didn't stop him from being a vindictive, ambitious, and malic...

Re: Game Stores (and finding a good one)
My first experience with my current FLGS (friendly local game store) was somewhat less than friendly. I live in Edmonton and I went to one store (Warp One) and basically was lectured by an employee how I was the worst kind of person for liking Arcanis, 3.x D&D, and for not ONLY playing obscure R...

Re: CC - Aliens
Also, I must disagree (to a degree, anyway) re: the robot turrets: I think that they hammer home the inability of them to rely on their technology to save them. At the time, it looks effective, and makes the realization that the aliens have gotten around it with ease all the more crushing. Is it nec...

Mine is working almost perfectly. If anything, the movie might be running a bit faster than C&A, but that could just be delay in see-to-talk.
Great job!
