June 5th :: Inside D&D 4th Edition

How the hell is it already JUNE! Good freaking god.
Anyways enjoy the podcast. The bit about the hockey game is a bit useless now, considering Detroit won it last night. BOOOOO.

I would have liked to hear Graham's unbitten opinion on D&D 4E.

I'm not really a sports fan, more a film fan (As my 123 DVD collection will attest). I've worked out it would take almost a fortnight to watch all of them consecutively (13.8 days in all).

My earliest memory is pre-natal. Which is ironic since my memory nowadays is atrocious in most cases. I suppose that was pretty traumatic, since it meant I was sharing a small room with my brother for 9 months...

Crazy, crazy, gladiators.

Mmm...Indian food. From what I've been told repeatedly, Britain invented the curry. The concept seems fishy at first but that's what I thought too.

The watching is always the best part of the video :P . I can certainly agree with the sense of accomplishment upon completion. I've noticed a lot of correlations between The Idiot Room and Phailhaus, but I suppose that's to be expected given the principal cast.

Blegh, I hate driving. I mean, even if I'm the worlds most legal and safest driver, the million bad drivers or drunk drivers or speeding Chavs on the roads will probably kill me. So why would I want to drive?!

Besides, this is the Information Age, so I can already get virtually anything I need delivered by folks with licenses and a weaker sense of mortality (Ironically when taking my theory test, I failed hazard perception, my brother passed with literal button bashing...) from ordering online.

It's hard to say what G-Man could do, for all we know he's a mental hallucination. I'm not even entirely certain if he can stop time but he certainly seems to be a tangible force from the player's perspective. If anyone from Discworld competes, I'd say Cohen the Barbarian would make a pretty darn good show of things.

When are those Iron Stomach Challenges coming out?

It's nice to see that people are contributing to the wiki more.

Keep it up, folks!

Those driving restrictions sound really familiar, except they time out at age 18 where I live. I don't know if that's because they expect 18 year olds to be more responsible, or because they can be legally tried as adults. Do they have the "x amount of classroom time" requirement up there? That's what drove me crazy.

Happy birthday, Graham!

Re: the wiki
I don't think 'umbrage' is quite the right word. They were probably only meaning to point out the fact that LRR has used Cthulhu in both of their D&D-centred videos, even though it's not usually that common (keeping in mind I don't play the game myself).
I'll go remove that bit.

When the graduated licensing was introduced it only took about a year to get your full license and the only restriction on the N stage was that you had to have a blood alcohol level of zero. If I had gotten my license right when I turned 16 I would have been under this regime.

A silly thing is that they do not how long you have been driving not just how long you have had you license. For instance you could do nothing for 11 months of your L stage start driving and learn in a month then pass the test.

Part of the problem with graduated licensing is you are trying to deal with two things - teaching people to drive and that teenagers are stupid.

Wow, Canada's process to get a driving license fucking sucks. Am I allowed to say that I'm glad to live in America, if only because of that?

Well, it depends. Some provinces are changing to different things.

Your driver's test is just like Florida's.

We can get our permits at 15, have to have it for a year with over 40 hours of experience supervised by someone over 25 (or have taken a credited course at a driving school (which is offered by the local high school every year)). Or you can just be 18 and completely avoid this step and skip to the next one.

You then have to take a written test to see if you qualify for the actual driving test. Then you take the driving test where everything is worth so many points and you get points for doing things correctly, whilst there are certain things which automatically fail you.

I happened to back into a cone while backing out of a parking spot, which is an automatic failure and I had to take it again. Got it the second time.

Here in Ontario, we get our G1(learner's) after a written test. Then it's the initiate phase of our license, with Mom or Dad in the car. I have my G2, which you get after 1 year with no driver's ed or 8 months with. Then, after a year, you go in for your final road test to get a G. So, ours only takes about 3 years. Instead of 2 years at the secondary level, we have one.

Incidentally, the 'Mysterio' account(and Duncan and Graham's comments about how he was gay for me, because Kathleen accused me of voting for Graham's 'hot bod') stemmed from one of my old signatures, which cycled through a bunch of spiderman comics.

Don't worry everyone cries when they view the final commercial.
Also, this site provides good back story and explanation for some parts of the videos which may be confusing.

I wasn't planning on it. I'm getting ready to buy a house, and apparently that requires lots of money saved to start.

Based on you guys' description, I don't just understand how getting a license is hard or annoying. My state (New Jersey) does the same thing, except the second stage is morphed into one year instead of two. But the rules sound exactly the same.

So I guess the question why didn't you guys pursue a license when you were younger guys?

Oh, and happy belated birthday :3
