In old videos I occasionally get an ad for a "new" soap channel series about dating men in other cities. In the ad it says to tune in to the show's premier on June 29th or 28th. I don't know how useful this information is, but it seemed like an anomaly.

I just tried to watch CH 3 and the following code came up, and under that there was a video of what looked like an islamic gathering of some kind.

Just our of curiosity, is there any way that we can murder the spambot armada? It's been happening roughly every month or two ever since the forums switched over to the new phpBB system.

um, the LRRcast page has all the text below the link to the mp3, but it's jumbled and overlayed and in one case backwards.

is it just me? (ie7, vista)

1. Is it just one particular LRRcast? Or the archive page?

2. Sounds like maybe Javascript (or something) isn't enabled.

Screencap would be nice. 'Specially so we can see the "jumbled and overlayed" bit.

I don't really know where to ask, but is there a setting (that I have been unable to track down) that allows me to turn off the auto-watching of a thread I post in? Or at least turn off the e-mails associated with this feature! Posting in a popular threat at the moment gets me practically spammed!
Thanks.

Thanks Matt. Feel a bit slow now, I really should have noticed earlier!

Just an advanced bit of weirdness.

After upgrading to Windows 7 last week, I've been having issues with older videos. Anything on Youtube or Blip.tv seems to work fine, but the locally hosted videos usually freeze halfway through the opening logo. At first I thought it was an internet problem with my computer taking a long time to buffer, but it always stops at the same place and never continues, no matter how long I leave it to wait.

Oh, I thought this was just because of my vlc plugin. Fancy that. I too experience this problem and use the download-the-video-and-play-it-later workaround.

i couldn't access the forum for the majority of today, probably about 8 odd hours. i figured it was a universal bug, but according to the lack of posts regarding it, it wasn't. i had the error message in my clipboard to post when i could, but i seem to have stupidly overwritten it. it said something about some phpBB code missing and to contact the LRR system admin (so, not a browser issue). just thought i'd bring it to your attention, though it's probably essentially useless without the error message. one thing of note: it was only the forum i couldn't get to, every other LRR page worked fine.

It wasn't just you - I couldn't get on this morning (which would be your day) either. There are probably no posts about it because no one who had problems could get on the forums.

MySQL error, Paul probably had to manually fix the error, so he probably knows about it.

well, that's weird. normally when the forum is down there's a panicked flurry of posts about it. (obviously not DURING the outage)

I've noticed that the forum clock appears to be about 5 minutes late for me. Is anyone else seeing that.

My current time is 2:16am and it says 2:11 in the corner. Of course this would be different for different time zones, but it should still be XX:16 for most people.

Same here, it's probably because the webserver clock is set wrong. Probably needs to be synced.

The forums also seem to be going down a lot too. The database clock might be out of sync from it going down.

Every so often when I open this forum in IE8, the page autodirects to a 404 with the following address:

Code: Select all

I believe the ad service is bugging out.
