I'll have you know that Westphalia has merged with the county of Northrhine in 1953 to form Northrhine-Westphalia. That's right. I live in Westphalia.

Whohoo, I'm also from Westphalia and thanks to the Phailhouse I checked and found out that US settlers were uninspired enough to found villages by the same name in Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Texas.

I agree, she almost looks as if locked in a car for over two weeks. It's winter, get some thermal isolation.

In Michigan, you'd be hard-pressed to find anything worth being imaginative over. Boooooring.

Even when we steal the spelling of other towns, Missouri can't pronounce anything, including the state's name itself.

Missouri = mizERuh
Nevada = nevAYduh
Versailles = verSAILS
Berlin = BURRlin
Rolla = RAHluh

But we do have some uniquities like:

Tightwad, MO
Dockery, MO (Hickery Dickery Dockery???)

Nope... it's Rolla. I lived there for 5 years. I should know. Weird town, but awesome University there. I miss it.

And that was far from a all-inclusive list of MO's oddities.

We have Climax Springs instead of just Climax. Let your gutter mind ponder that for a minute or so.

We also have the town of Conception, which is known for the Abbey and Seminary college. (Think Catholic Monks.) There is also a Monestary of Nuns. Just down the road is the slightly larger town of Conception Junction. (I like to call it "crotch.")

I don't have time to go into a full list of Missouri's capacity for creative naming, but I thought I'd add another couple to the conversation.

I grew up in Cape Girardeau from 1st to 5th grade. Lived on the dry side of town. Remember the 500-year floods in '93 and '95? Yeah I saw them.

I remember those well. The flood of 93 left my hometown stranded. Every road out was flooded. My family lived on top of the tallest hill in the area, so we stayed dry. Lucky during flood season... not so great during tornados though.

re: Kathleen losing weight
I for one am glad to see Kathleen taking the initiative getting healthier. It is also encouraging to hear about James and Matt following suit on their blogs.
A healthy LRRcrew is a happy LRRcrew

just a thought: in fight club, Tyler Durden claims that self improvement is masturbation.

self-improvement=masturbation
therefore
masturbation=self-improvement

If this is true, we all should be REALLY healthy!
