Anyone want to make this a thing? I don't have a massive budget, but if anyone's been eyeing something up on Steam or something...

OK, what's Phail using to blackmail you and the crew? I told you no good ever comes from tequila!

I'd love a copy of Surgeon Simulator. That's 10 bucks here, no idea if it costs more there. (At a guess, probably not.)

I happen to have a half-dozen games left in my Steam inventory from the summer sales, and not enough Aussies in my friend list.

Oddly enough, my steam name is MasterGunner, so....

I also have a low budget but I'm in for a low priced steam game if anyone is looking for something cool!

I'll give away Half Life 2, CounterStrike: Source, Bad Rats, or a 10% off coupon for Toki Tori 2 to an Australian, if they're interested.

I already have a pile of unplayed games that's too big for me to know what to do with... but still, I wouldn't say no if someone insisted on giving me something...

Hmm. It seems we may have to come dangerously close to organisation regarding this...

For Aussies who feel bad about recieving free stuff/givers feeling uncomfortable about giving away free stuff, you guys can consider repayment.

You're essentially buying the game for the standard price, not the aussie price, and the smuggler isn't made poorer. Involves trust with paypalness.

I would be glad to offer a repayment of some kind, however meagre my means, in exchange for things.

Also it'd just be good to have y'all in my steam friends list (updated my signature to link to my profile).

I would also gladly help get this aussie-day of the ground. Maybe try to get the Escapist and PA forums on board with this?

There has got to be a better way of doing this Gift-a-game-to-an-Aussie day thing then shouting on forums. We're going to end up with a handful of Aussies with tons of steam games instead of covering the majority of the Aussie gamer population. Anyone got any ideas...?

Also, quick problem: People could scam this, change their country and try to get free games.

This drive is inherently not going to be a massive thing, I feels; the majority of the world's gaming populace do not, unfortunately, watch Checkpoint so will have no idea about it, and I feel that any significant effort to increase its reach will a) be far too messy to organise and execute within the next five days and b) result in the kind of issue already offered up by DewMan. Frankly, my main reason for doing this is simply in the spirit of trying to be nice to people and other such wussy talk.

I do feel, however, that we should have some kind of structure to work around to ensure multiple copies of the same game don't get bought and to try and ensure a roughly even spread through our forum members, so I propose the following; all Aussies who want to take part post a list on this thread of games they would like to have gifted, and all non-Aussies then proceed to 'claim' games they would be willing to gift, at which point they get struck off people's wish lists. Come Monday, the deal gets done. Sound alright?

I like Merrymaker's idea. We could do this in the form of a spreadsheet.

I have made an example of the sort of thing I'm thinking of:

Please let me know if the spreadsheet isn't working for you.

Works fine for me.

Also, Aussies: Remember to check if the game is actually more expensive then other countries. You don't want to waste this chance on the wrong game ;)

Despite living in Australia I did not notice this thread until now thanks to buy the Legendary version of Skyrim last weekend on sale for $30.
