Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2
What does everyone think about it? Is it too soon for Valve?

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
It really depends on if they add more modes and features. The melee could be good though.
Re: Left 4 Dead 2
looks very samey to me. might as well just be an add-on.
p.s. where the fuck is episode 3.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Oh dear, a sequel already? And new orleans? They may as well set it in quebec, kill some pretentious zombies. Melee might be cool
Re: Left 4 Dead 2
I loved L4D and I hope any sequel will be just as good or better.
But I was hoping for some more missions for the original L4D first.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
I'm looking forward to it, if they actually manage to get it the same length or longer than the first I'll be satisfied..
From a design standpoint it makes sense that they wouldn't make it an add-on, and that they skipped free campaigns for L4D1. To make a new campaign that met the standards set by the first 4 would require a full dev team, in comparison to the skeleton crew most non-mmo games have on patches/updates (TF2 included).

and now; back to me.
Re: Left 4 Dead 2
It feels like they've put together a level pack that they'll be marketing with the price of a full game. I hope it's more than just a self-contained level pack with a tacked on melee gimmick. I mean, I love the game, but this should be being sold as an expansion pack; not a sequel. A Brood War, or somesuch.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Im a big fan of l4d but so far this game is an epic fail.
Ive seen better in mods.
But there is some good in this, the announcement of l4d2 means that their previous project (ep3) is either completed or nearing completion.
That is what im waiting for!

Same game, different day. I just hope it doesn't go the way of FEAR 2. Man that was terrible compared to the first one.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Anyone else surprised at Valve's quick timing on this? November, yeah right, of 2014 more like. :p I jest. I can't really complain about having to pay again, I /did/ get the first for free. But I would rather have Episode 3.

This. I wouldn't have bought L4D at all if I'd known they weren't going to support it like they do all their other games. Everything I read said or implied that there wasn't enough content for a full release, but that Valve would probably send more later, in line with their reputation for long-term support and community service. I like their games and all, but I'll never trust in Valve's customer service policy again. Really disappointing.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
I will probably treat L4D2 the same way I treated the first one; complaining about it's price point until a 50% off sale, then getting it with the kind of speed that would make people's head spin. Like, I would wake up in a cold sweat, and run to my computer to find Steam already open, already on the page, with the mouse already on the "purchase" button.
Not that I've thought this out or anything.

I never really thought the first one was worth $60, so unless there is a plethora of new awesome features in this one, I'll pass for now.

As someone who plays L4D on 360, I really hope L4D2 supports four-player local split-screen. Just sayin'.

Re: Left 4 Dead 2
Apparently the director in this game can randomize the layout of the levels themselves this time, which is something that excites me quite a bit.
Word has it they've done away with the finales, and instead are having gauntlets. The example I read on RockPaperShotgun said something about running to the end of a bridge while opponents spawn constantly from both ends. Seems a bit better than finales to me, where sitting in one spot until rescue came was the best way to go.
Same with those moments in the game where you would push a button and then kill zombies until they stop spawning, triggering the elevator door to open. Word is they'll keep spawning until everyone gets past the area, which should, again, prevent people from camping out until it's safe.
Different types of ammo exist in the game as well. Flame rounds. FLAMING BULLETS. Who needs motolovs?
Mostly though, I want to see the smaller tweaks made to the AI Director. That was the most interesting part of the previous game from a technical standpoint for me.

Yeah, wtb Episode 3 or Portal 2. L4D is cool, but by no means sequel time.

Valve teams are independent. L4D2 takes literally no resources from Episode 3 or Portal 2.Allen! wrote:Yeah, wtb Episode 3 or Portal 2. L4D is cool, but by no means sequel time.
The Left 4 Dead team wanted to do a bunch of things that would be impossible to patch in (new special infected, for one). This is the best way to do it.
Don't want to pay $60? Don't buy it.

I think it's pretty good. I mean you'll be buying quality this winter instead of something new and unknown. I'm happy for it and I'm looking forward to it a lot. Coach is the man so far

I don't realy mind that there making the second already, i'll still probably buy it but i'm more peeved about the change of the characters (because is it just me or does one of the characters look just like a
re-skined scout from TF2). I mean as far as extra content goes its only console gamers that are suffering, because lets face it, there will be mods downloadable for the first one on PC. Hell I know someone working on a full campaign map at the moment.
