I'm pretty sure the number's over 1000, as one person gave them 497 by himself.

I've only got 1 regular and 1 foil myself.

at the end of 2011 Loading ready run had been getting a lot of magic cards from their at cons, so they thought they would focus this into something funny. They looked the currently available cards and said "bump in the night is a cheep common that isnt getting much if any play, anyone who brings us a bump in the night will get a special prize. Anyone who brings us a FOIL bump in the night will get a SUPER special prize. The special prize was a a button, I am still waiting for my super special prize.

Several people took this to be a challenge, to bring not one, but 10 or 20 bump in the nights. Then it got out of control.

Personally, I had ordered about 100 of them for the LOLS. Then I went into the LGS in Alaska which was one of two locations that did single sales in the entire state, the other one being their satellite location. I explained that I was in sort of a competition with two guys from Pennsylvania (yaxley and psycopez) to see who could take the most. Alaskans have a bit of a state pride issue and the shop as a whole declared "NO! Pennsylvania will not beat us" The guy who ran FNM put out a collection box and explained at each of their events that Alaska would not let some lower 48 state win. At the time that I left Alaska, there were less than one box plus several boosters of innistrad left unopened in the state, and I dont recall the exact number but less than 20 bumps that people had not brought in to contribute. At Pax east Yaxley gave them more in bulk which can be seen in the pax east video "hey james! these are for you(dump)(4:44), psycopez only turned in two but wore a bump hat around(4:08) and I think gave them over 900 at Pax prime, I put up signs (43 seconds into the video)resealed packs (1:28)and passed out bumps to random people all over the halls then at the LRR panel to any fan who didnt have one then finishing by "making it rain" with the remaining bumps. At 7:20 they talk about the best name of a bump giver.

Bump in the nights have already gone up in price from an average of something like 5 cents to over 20 because 1. they are probably the most rare common on the market right now, thanks to LRR and 2 they are getting play in rackdos burn decks because of some play on the pro tour.

I doubt they are going to do a magic card thing again, we kinda ruined/destroyed/overawesomed it.

Yeah, I don't think they actually realized how much influence they could have on the card market. I'd be surprised if they ever moved away from Bumps. (Though if they wanted to move on to RTR block, I sure have a whole lot of Chemister's Tricks, my box was loaded with 'em)

I myself have never given them one (somehow I never ever pulled one, and I refused to give them one unless it was one I'd pulled... the Bump that was in the MTG cozy I donated to Desert Bus was one I bought) but I did trade a cool pin to Kathleen for the Bump prize.

No, man... Urble Burblebing should be the loser prize, like the Poop Dogs were. We need something else for the winner.

If we used RTR, I'd say Lobber Crew. It's cheap, the flavor text is not bad, and it turned out to be a pretty solid limited card.

If we didn't mind using Gatecrash though, I'd put forth that Totally Lost is the winner.

Surprisingly I only pulled 1 Lobber Crew out of a Fat Pack and Booster Box. So lets not go with that lol.

There's another consideration when choosing a card to replace Bump, as well.

I'd totally send them a box of Twiddles if I could get my hands on that many. It's not exactly something you're going to pull from an M13 booster.

Just to verify, yes, at Prime I just handed over a box with just a tad under 1000 Bumps to the folks at the LRR table.

I'm also the person who was handing out Foil Chinese and Foil -some other language I can't remember- Bumps to people waiting in line at Pax East last year. Because I is classy.

For reference, this is about half of the Bumps I handed over:

What would arrive in the mail 3 or 4 times over the course of last year:

You know, I may never be well known in the LRR community, but being part of the Bump In The Night Cold War arms race will always be my crowning jewel.
