Friday Nights - GP Bound
The LoadingReadyRun crew are heading to Grand Prix Calgary, here's a look at how they prepare and their journey across Canada for the tournament.

How can you not have strong opinions on Bant Hexproof?
Also: *Sanguine Bond (as opposed to Sanguine Blood)
Also also: That game is awesome.
Fertile Ground: an Ambient Grunge band. Nobody knows them but they don't care.
Voices from the Void: an electronic freejazz combination
Personal Incarnation: A Classical/Punk crossover band. Using large orchestras to underline the hyper lyrics.

Re: Friday Nights - GP Bound
I have seen LoadingReadyRun do many things, but I don't recall scenery porn being one of them.
Obvious tourism joke aside, those were some BEAUTIFUL places. WOW.
And so many great interactions in the cast. I don't know why the unblockable 2/1 Bears joke was so funny, but it really was.

Comments on the episode:
I thought it was great both the dialog, the visuals, the jokes and the set up were all great.
I got to see my hat again, I think it has appeared more than spot has this year. Lady Hosk said "How do you know its your hat, he's the one wearing it all the time" which I guess is fair.
Secondly a lot of the jokes were funny even if you dont play magic which I think was great since this is supposed to be a promotion tool to bring people in.
I loved how long the drive took, some people might say "get on with it" but thats a LONG drive 10 hours plus the ferry? and I think you did a great job showing that even though events can be far the fun you can have with your pals on the way can be worth it.
Lastly as I said on twitter, my wife, who has never played magic was in the room and she stopped to watch. She even had me restart the episode a couple minutes in because she chuckled a few times just overhearing it.
On the negative side,
I think the magic names were too heavily used this episode, between the band name, and the letter game, and then the talk at the table. I am familiar with magic and I even went a little cross brained it was kind of like watching pro's play cube "magic magic magic" "DERP DERP DERP".
Also as a filming/editing note, I think there were too many whip/throw cuts at the table during the "team LRR" section. It got very difficult to watch as the camera blurred blurred zip blur... it got especially disorienting when you would jump past someone who was supposed to be sitting in between them the whole time. I know it was so you could film the whole conversation in bites but it got bad maybe if you would have cut to something other than a single talking head spitting out half a sentence. Two people next to each other saying a couple lines, or someone responding from across the table while still holding the camera on the first person would be my suggestions.

According to twitter it was delayed because of all the coverage of the magic world cup.

(Also I've never been more glad that I can't wear hats after seeing Graham's...monstrosity.)

Love the episode.
I knew Canada had some amazing vistas but you guys really captured some beautiful landscapes on the trip. I really want to just visit Canada now and go on a road trip across it stopping at every small town to buy a hat. Then when I get to Victoria at the end just deliver all the hats to the Moonbase. Might pick up some ugly shirts along the way.

Re: Friday Nights - GP Bound
Did the Tourism Board sponsor this episode? That's some pretty countryside there between Victoria and Calgary. It certainly doesn't look very densely inhabited though, but I guess living on a Mountain, you'd always be concerned that someone would tap it for mana and you'd fall off the side, at least when you're tapped for mana in a forest, most likely you can snag a nearby tree before you fall off.
Great video though, I loved it. I do wonder though, why does James always have to drive? Is he the only one who actually has a license out of all of you going to Calgary?

Love the video!
Alex killed me with his naming cards that end with X and his voice getting higher each time.
Also I am sure this has been asked before but could yall print or get printed magic cards like ones in the intro and sell for those of us who want to have them?

Same here. And I actually bought some booster cards and built a U/W deck recently because of all the Magic talk here. Now if I could only get up the courage to play an FNM...

Re: Friday Nights - GP Bound
I couldn't resist supplying more bands:
Hollow Trees - country & western act, famous in the 70s for their hits "Rising Waters" and "Hickory Woodlot".
Savannah - new age/alternative rock band, had a number 1 in the 80s with "True Believer".
Lady Sun - japanese knockoff of Pink; her latest single is "Touch and Go".
Rock Jockey - british early 80s rock band, best known for their hit "Down/Dirty".

I got him at the visitor's centre in Field, BC (where we shot the "Canada!" section) because Kathleen missed our kitties

I, Timeswordsman the Forum Ghost, will swoop in now in order to say that, among the cards of Dragon's Maze, only one has the perfect band name:
Drown in Filth
Which frankly sounds a bit Skacore. They are a very rude band.
