Re: Crapshots - Volume 5
Whenever there's a "Deck Names" segment I always feel like I need a score card or something to figure out what all of them are getting at. Special mentions to the ones I'm really not sure about:
Is the Izzet / Is It segment also a (tangential) reference to Oops All Spells? I enjoy the wordplay on Izzet / Is It / It Is, at least.
Mono-red -> Domer Pile. As in going to the dome?
"Servo Facts of Life and Death... And Taxes" I get as a mashup of Servo Facts, Death & Taxes, and Facts of Life and Death, but I'm not sure what Facts of Life and Death is referencing, and that might explain the Aether Vial response?
"Where it's at" I do not get. I get that 59 plains and a Fumigate is really bad in that you basically have no way to win, but I can't put together the reference, if any.
Shout outs to "Raymond Scott's Powerhouse in E flat". Initially I thought "Too many moving parts" was solely a musical reference, but after looking up the song and finding out it was frequently used in Warner Bros. Cartoons whenever ACME machines were in motion... It's a rickety combo indeed, but when it goes off, you catch the rabbit and the roadrunner.

This seems to be 4 mashups, not 3: Servo Facts, Facts of Life, Life and Death, Death and Taxes.OneirosGolem wrote:"Servo Facts of Life and Death... I'm about 70% sure it's a two turntables and a microphone riff...

I couldn't in a million years explain to you why I find Golf Squid so intensely hilarious. But there it is.

Yeah, it cracked me up forever in the TTC, and it cracked me up forever again in Crapshot form... and I couldn't for the life of me tell you why.

The Crapshoot--The shipping
Multi boxes shot--that was amusing.
single box--the whole thing was effective. James really, really, sold it.
Multi boxes would be effective for Christmas shopping
single box is more accurate because I am imagining James/that character is just ordering one thing.

Is it a website bug or is this Crapshot listed with FeedDump instead of Crapshots?
Re: Crapshots - Volume 5
"The Zombies" has so much going for it that I don't know where to begin. It's exactly one minute from ~gun-cock to ~honk, it packs a bunch of worldbuilding into that one minute, the comic timing is flawless, and the punchline really knocked the whole thing out of the park.
The only thing that would make it better would be if it were a recurring setting, sort of like Krog and Torg.

Re: Crapshots - Volume 5
A recurring setting would be fun, but it would dry up pretty fast for comedic porpoises. Zombies really don't lend themselves well to long term storylines, and when it's tried, it always ends up with a whole "The Humans Are The Monsters" type moral. Which has been done to death.
