Happy Families. Weird game.

Also, I'll through the script up on the wiki and let you guys format it and correct it for the dialogue we actually used.

Good video. I just have one question.

Is Bill seriously that tall!? You didn't have him standing on a phonebook or something?

You guys could do a Lord of the Rings re-enactment, with Bill playing all of the non-Hobbit characters.

I'm inclined to agree that a shirt with all the public cards and "UNOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" underneath it would be sweet.

As a poker fan(one who actually plays, a lot. Any kind), this was great. Sometimes the announcers do get a bit impenetrable, but I promise, the words have meaning. Mostly referring to the nicknames for the public cards and possible hands.

As someone who understands about 98% of what those poker commentaries are talking about, that was hilarious!

Also:
empath wrote:I'm sorry, but for me, poker is "Five Card Draw" or maybe "Seven Card Stud". You mention Texas Hold'Em, and I'll tell you to go get your M:TG deck, you gee-whizzers!

It's about the players not the cards themselves or byzantine rules! Study your opponents to divine what they have, not try to recall obscure conditions with esoteric jargon.

While I agree that all the TV attention has watered down all the tactics used in the game, I would argue that hold'em in general is more psychological than 5-card draw (not so much 7-stud as long as it's delt properly). Reason being, in 5-card draw, you only have two things to go off of: their bets and how many cards they draw (yeah, and other meta-game stuff but that's not my point here...that'll always be there). In Hold'em, you also have the community which allows betting position and bluffing to have a different meaning to them.

tl;dr: Hold'em has the same kind of mind games as other poker variants if not more, it's just been watered down by the media.

It's one of those really old school kid's card games, that's all I can figure.

Old Maid can be played on a regular deck.

Same here, for a second I thought the whole game was a setup for something else, but when I saw Ms Bun I LOL'ed XD

Graham and Morgan, both do an awesome job as commentators :D

There are however also special old maid decks (at least here) that use barnyard animals and an ogre so that you aren't an "Old Maid" when you lose because that is a bit dated.

...and those special "old maid," "war," and "go fish" decks can be used to play poker, bceause the game didn't change /at all/ when moving to a non-standard deck.

Curses! It would appear Blip.TV doesn't work properly on the Wii Internet Channel. Now I can't watch LRR until my computer is fixed/replaced :(
Any chance of posting this one up on YouTube? I can watch videos there...

I used to watch poker late at night with my dad when we were both bored, you have to give the commentators some credit. They're doing there best to make something that's boring as hell, interesting to watch. That and they probably like the sound of their own voice.

Regardless, funny vid ^.^

If anyone does Improv here, this video may seem familar as there's an Improv game called "Game", where you bascially do a scene where you play a game and make up rules, and have to stick by internal logic of rules mentioned so far

Thanks.

Quick question: Have any of you guys seen the show The Real Inspector Hound? I was in it (as Hound [himself?]), and there was a scene that was more or less a condensed version of that sketch.

He is six-foot-ten. Most of the other crew are over six feet, with Graham at six-three. Paul is five-eleven.

Isn't Gandalf supposed to be seven feet tall?

Yeah, and Lamont came this close to pulling a FULL under-crutch moonsault and lost to Elway because he pulled a twist-flip-gargle play and got an Uno even though Lamont got him into a back-ended flip.

Oh crap he did...
