Cooking... FOR SCIENCE!!

Postby XelaReko » 29 Dec 2010, 11:58

So, I come upon a wonderful though that goes as follows:

1. bacon goes great with everything.
2. pineapple does too
3. & 4. as does chocolate and ranch.

Therefore, it follows that the best thing in the world would be chocolate-covered, bacon-wrapped pineapple dipped in ranch.

I will post images of said wonder food and keep you up to date on flavor assessment.

will be taking ideas as to how to cook it too. Right now it is grilled because that is the manliest way to cook

Pinapple goes well with nothing, including itself. Therefore, upon peer review, your methodology has been found flawed. Please rethink your experimental design.

Wow, that sounds absolutely revolting.

I can see bacon and pineapple, or bacon and chocolate, and definitely pineapple and chocolate.
But the only thing I can even remotely think about associating with the ranch in any way is the bacon, and even that doesn't sound good.

Enjoy?

And keep a trash can nearby...

Deciphering Matt's message by removing the second and third word of every four words:
"Pinapple with itself. Peer methodology found. Rethink design."

Results show pretty much the same sentiment.

Well upon the review of friends and family proves all preceding comments incorrect

So far, chocolate and ranch tastes like ranch with sugar (Who knew)
pineapple and ranch and bacon it amazing but can't be described.
pineapple and chocolate is just as it sounds, delicious

On another note. If you don't like any of the ingredients then you aren't going to like it.

pineapple and bacon and chocolate is heavenly as long as you don't feel your heart stopping.

Agreed.

And XelaReko, I like all of those ingredients, but I still think the mix of all 4 sounds disgusting.

ranch is a no go. or at least a lot of ranch is a no go. A little is ok. and I couldn't take pictures as it was messy and I didn't want to touch my camera. All in all, this is delicious and you should try it. =D

Ya know, had you got pinapple slices cut in half, coated in chocolate, wrapped in bacon and then battered and fried you would have had perfect dippers to dunk in a pot of ranch, not that I know what that is nor would I be particularly inclined to find out what that mess resulted in.
Good on ya for trying it though!

Bacon and pineapple is delicious. But that's well known.

Matt, you seriously do not like pineapple? I am horrified and piteous.

Fried! Genius! I will try that tomorrow. The current was amazing as is but the ranch was too overpowering.

Matt does not like pineapple, as I recall.

However, that does remind me that I do have an entire cored & spiral-sliced pineapple in my fridge. I believe I shall commence munching whilst catching up on LRR vids.

i once ate pinaple until i got cuts in my mouth... i still finished eating it...
it's great fun when people bet you $60 you can't eat an entire pinaple in 5minutes.... though with hindsight i woulda told them to get fucked because i couldnt even drink water for about 12 hours afterwards... and i thought my teeth were going to fall out everytime i touched my gums...
still love pinaple though...

The thing about pineapple is it contains a unique enzyme which breaks down human flesh. Hence, eating too much of it is extremely hazardous, and it's possible to eat so much that it kills you. People who work in pineapple factories have no fingerprints because the constant contact with the juice essentially melts the skin of their fingertips.

I suspect the "cuts" on the roof of your mouth and the fact that your gums hurt so much was due to the enzymes breaking down the insides of your mouth. I would advise against doing such things again in the future. ;)

If you let a pineapple slice sit on your tongue, it will bleed!

Also, on your arm, but it'll take a bit longer.

Okay, I put forward that Bacon, pineapple, chocolate, ranch should be the next ISC.

That doesn't seem disgusting/disorienting enough to be ISC material, but I guess they did do Pickle Juice, so I guess they could do weaker stuff.

The original Iron Stomach Challenge intro video stated they were looking for:

1. Weird food
2. Creative combinations
3. Unhealthy amounts

I put forward that an entire pineapple per person be the next Iron Stomach Challenge. So few challenges incorporate the third point.

Evil Jim wrote:So few challenges incorporate the third point.

Maybe because it's harder to make interesting. Just eating a lot of something, especially if it's something they don't mind eating, isn't very thrilling. Most (if not all) of the ISCs use the angle of disgust in some way or another. Watching Paul eat all those carrots and bananas during Desert Bus wasn't very entertaining on its own. If they're going to incorporate the third point, they need to add another factor, like one of the other two points (kinda like Pickle Juice), or something like a time limit (a la Lemon Race). While it may be cliche to just watch them eat something disgusting, I think it'd be far more interesting to watch than something they might actually like. Granted, eating a lot of something can be disgusting, but it's not the same kind of disgust.

Also, the reason(s) why I think this chocolate, bacon, pineapple, and ranch idea is kind of weak ISC-wise is because, while it is in the creative camp, I don't think it would be disorienting enough to make interesting. Chocolate, bacon, and pineapple already sort of go together (albeit, not all three together generally), and ranch is really the only thing that throws off the combination.

Sorry if this looks ranty, but I felt like I needed to post it.
