Welp. I said I might do it, and I think I'm just drunk enough to think this is a good idea.
Kinda grainy and not the best angle.
Also, no face because I still don't know how to do hair or makeup.

Dude. That looks really good.
Re: Confessions of a 20-year-old Crossdresser
Yeah, I'd pass that off as female, so I think that's a good sign.

Yeah... Kind of manly-man shoulders, but some women have those, too, so not off-average.

Well done on admitting something like this. I really have nothing else to contribute here.

Damn it. Now that Mara has mentioned the dirty floor I can't stop thinking about it.

Now that you've got me looking at the background, I noticed that weird mass on the left that sorta looks like a plant.
I do not own a plant. I have no idea what it is...

Personally, I'd suggest looking up some of the YouTube makeup girls. You can learn a lot from them. My personal recommendations (based on the fact that their vlog channels got me interested in their main beauty channels) would be MissGlamorazzi and FleurDeForce. They both do really good basic daytime looks, and they also give advice on the types of products you should get.
If you want more advice on making your masculine features looking more feminine, one of my favorite drag queens, Manila Luzon, did a drag makeup tutorial that will help with some contouring work.
As for hair, that can be trickier to do.
Finally, with regards to your female persona, think about more non-traditional names, like Laurel or Iris. Maybe one of those will speak to you more.

Challenge accepted.
Raven- a bird associated with trickery and misleading
Helen- the most beautiful woman in Troy
Karina- An uncommon name meaning "pure", as in, this side of you is purely female. However, it could also mean "dear" or "beloved one".
Jocelyn (shortened to Joss, Jazz, Jess, Lyn)- Female name meaning "chief" or "saint"
Mitzi, Miriam- "Wished for child" or "rebellion"
That's all I got for now, let me get back to you.

Minimalist - Kay?
Also, that 'plant' to the left side of the pic? That's wrinkled bedsheets on the side of a bed. Yeah, I totally saw it the other way even before you mentioned it, and it took me ages - and my wife's 'mommy-sense-for-dirty-bedclothes' sense - to 'see' it properly.

Re: Confessions of a 20-year-old Crossdresser
Don't mean to hijack the thread I just wanted to put in a small note.
So I am 23 and have been struggling with feelings to want to crossdress quite some time now. The only person who knows is my ex and I just haven't been able to get myself to tell anyone else so I have just been hiding it really. This really hasn't been the best thing for my mental wellbeing. now to just quickly get to my point. I just want to say thank you since this thread has "inspired" me to at least tell my 2 best friends soon (this week I promise!) and well I will see from there.
Now on-topic:
In that picture you really do look great. As for names I always liked Julie, Katherine and Rose.

That's great! It's always hard to tell people about it, especially when you've known them for a long time. It's never an easy thing, and it can sometimes cause problems. But trust me when I say that it's well worth it!

Re: Confessions of a 20-year-old Crossdresser
I can't believe I've missed this thread until now...
Now, while browsing about the forums (as you do) I have seen the picture of you as Slave Leia a few times. Until I stumbled upon this thread it didn't occur to me that the picture wasn't of a woman. Even now your chin from a profile view is the only real hint, and I didn't even pick up on that the first few times I saw it.
Since we haven't been properly acquainted yet, Kevin, I'm going to point out that I'm a portrait photographer, and when I'm lucky enough to be behind the camera working my entire job can be boiled down to showing off the beauty of ladyfolk. You convinced me, so take that as a compliment. Seriously.
Focus on what makes you happy, Kev, regardless of what anyone else thinks (supportive or not). At the end of the day it's your life and your happiness, and it's all up to you.
~V
EDIT: Okay, I just got done rooting through my workspace for my Big Book O' Writing Notes and I may be able to help out with non-traditional girl's names: Deandra, Anessa, Juno, Ariadne, Bernadette, Rayline.
Every good character needs a name to match, so best of luck.

Re: Confessions of a 20-year-old Crossdresser
Okay, so I'm late to the party here. I had seen the thread but had avoided it because I was afraid it would be a joke or a cry for attention. I feel bad now since it's such a thread full of win and love. I've cross dressed a few times in the past (mostly in a Rocky Horror or Halloween context) and it's definitely fun. Illuminating too - it really gives you a whole new perspective on fully half the population of our planet. (The biggest pain for me was all the damned SHAVING!) I just wanted to add my support for you Kevin and thank you as everyone has for trusting us.
As for your request for a name I second 'Kay' which was suggested about a page back. I guess it depends on your personal goals and what you want out of your transformation. Do you want to create a whole other persona for when you're cross dressing or do you want a girly name to go with your girly look but have it still be recognizable as an aspect of your every day self?

I can't say enough about how awesome you all are. Every time one of you throws in your support, it literally brings a tear to my eye.
The second one. It just feels wrong to be wearing a skirt and fake boobs and have people calling me Kevin.
I haven't really said anything about the names suggested so far, because they all just don't feel right, and I don't wanna just keep shooting everyone down.

Re: Confessions of a 20-year-old Crossdresser
I didn't think they would. A name needs to be personal. Anything else would feel wrong. I play a lot of tabletop games, and the more unique and personifying the name is, the more I feel connected to the character. The ones where I just pick names out of a book just don't feel right.Kevin_Ford wrote:I haven't really said anything about the names suggested so far, because they all just don't feel right, and I don't wanna just keep shooting everyone down.
The new you isn't just now coming into existence. It has always been, it's just been hiding. As such, you can not give it a name. It already has one. You just need to search within yourself for what it is. Do some retrospection, some reflection, a bit of remembering. I know it will come to you easily once you do. It's been starting you in the face and you don't even know it.
I could go on for miles. Character creation is a passion of mine. Because I don't see it as creation, but as discovery. I have pages upon pages of back story for any one of my dozens of characters that I play. I see them as real people and treat them as such. so treat your new you as a real person, and not just a costume. I'm not saying you have, ut it could be a big stumbling block if you are.

You'll know the right name when you see it/hear it. You'll FEEL it.
So, until then, all we can do is offer stuff up for you - if we don't, it might take MUCH longer for you to find the right name.
...ergo, I have NO BAD FEELINGS for suggesting something that doesn't click with you.
