When I was in University, I spent a lot of time studying at the library. Once, I was on my way, told my mother "I'm going to the library" as usual, and she responded "you know, we know when you say that you're actually going to see boys".

I was pretty shocked, considering I had never dated, and wouldn't have thought of lying about going to the library (libraries are serious business!).
After that though, I was so embarrassed that when I went studying at the library, I would always say I was going to hang out with friends instead.

The fact that parents will take that sort of stance and refuse to give up on it is mind boggling "We know you're seeing boys stop lying to us"

I kinda wish my parents had thought I was sneaking out to see boys. For the longest time everyone assumed I was a lesbian because all the other girls were boy-crazy and all I did was homework and play video games.

My dad still makes jokes about how he's holding out for me coming home with a hot girlfriend. :P

My mum once made a huge deal out of one of my university groups because they were all girls.

She made an even bigger deal out of it when I told her I brought them all cake as a reward for doing our presentation. I was just motivating them for doing a good job, it's what a good group leader does right?

Although saying that, I have a slight suspicion that one my group might fancy me. But it's probably just me.

I'm psychologically incapable of picking up on those sorts of things unless it's really overt.
Reading emotions I can do, social cues I can't. I hate having mild Anti-Social Personality Disorder.

I had to go to a therapist once.

Told me I was normal.

Dammit, now I have no excuses.

Anti-Social Personality Disorder is just fancy talk for sociopath. It's sometimes handy to have, but sometimes a pain in the ass, like how I can't tell whether someone's interested in me. I can be incredibly charming however, to the point where for a while I'd managed to somehow get someone from hating me to being basically like family.

I don't think anybody I've ever been attracted to can pass a psych evaluation. Maybe one, tops.

I am terrible at reading hints when they involve me, but I am good at catching them when they involve other people.

That's usually when I give a blank stare and say "Quoi?"

My mom understands a little Spanish, but almost no French. Using "Quoi" usually result in a "what" at which point I can either say "yep" and leave, or "well that made no sense in English so I thought I'd give French a try"

I should try answering with that some time.

I have a lot of good answers for my mother's prying into my non-existent social life. all of these I have used.

Mother: "Why don't you go out with the people at work?"
Me: "They smell." / "They won't let me bring my fire starting kit." / "I'm having my yearly bathe in three weeks. I need to prepare."

So that would make you 13 at the time? (going by the age on your profile) If that's the case it wouldn't hurt to get your self reexamined. The World Health Organization frowns upon the diagnosing of children under 18 with ASPD.

Sorry if I am out of line by the way
