The two ways I think it would go would be Fox bringing it back somehow and failing to understand what they're working with (like they did the first time), or the creators doing something like the Netflix season of Arrested Development.
If you're like me then the third season of A.D. was...disappointing. A kickstarter would give total creative freedom to the producers, but that's not strictly a good thing. Artists need people who can tell them 'no' once in awhile. Exhibit A: George Lucas.

I'm content with leaving Firefly where it is. Reviving a franchise after a decade as a direct continuation is risky, and even if it's good it won't necessarily capture the same magic as the original.

Arrested Development and Futurama are good examples of this. While the new seasons of both are fine television, they always felt different from the original. Now, mostly that's just because I'm looking at the original stuff with rose-tinted goggles - but that's pretty much the point. It's almost impossible for something new to live up to our nostalgic memories.

As to the actual question - there would be a fan-started crowdfunding campaign that would be ignored/shut down by Fox. That's basically what happened when Enterprise ended just as it was getting interesting (different network though).

The problem I see is that hype is always a setup for disappointment. Duke Nukem Forever would have been all but forgotten by gamers and lost to the sands of time as just a mediocre game had it not been for the buildup. Gamers waited years, joking and wondering what it'll be like, and when it DID come out, well, we all know what happened.

Annie took to roller-skating. Last time I checked she also became a rather famous porn star.

My Dyspraxia is showing its head.
It makes it very hard for me to learn new languages. I was only able to learn Welsh by literally drowning in it when growing up.

I'm learning Spanish (using Duolingo) and I've reached a plateau in my learning. My technique of going along with the gamification by taking notes has meant I have progressed further than I should.

I learn new words but forget old ones. I don't actually learn the grammatical rules.

So I am going to have to spam the Strengthen Skills until my brain catches up.

Duolingo is good. It's just when you take to the game-side of it and forget about the learning-side, you get into trouble.

At least I can read and understand basic Spanish. I just am incapable of remembering how to make phrases.

Not being able to hear clearly the differences between Z and s and c certainly makes working out what's going on hard.

y and ll and v sometimes catches me off guard too.

I have the same issue with y u and i in Welsh.

Youtube auto-subtitles are always hilarious.

'Vladivostok' was subtitled as "Bloody Bus Stop".

I always wonder if it is because of people not modulating well enough or just plain shitty subtitles :P

I'm feeling very happy. Went to my second concert this year on Monday. Damon Albarn played stuff from his new album mostly but slipped in enough Gorillaz songs to keep me delighted.

I was watching a TV show on PBS the other day about the year 1964 in America. They had a segment on the Harlem Riots after a black teenager was shot by an off duty police officer. Kinda makes you think that 50 years on there's an almost identical story that occurred in Ferguson. And today there's reportedly more unrest at another shooting (although this guy was apparently armed and fired shots). I just wonder when we're going to hear an end to these kinds of stories in the USA.

Hell, when you think about it the "Boston Massacre" was a reaction to perceived overuse of power by the British authorities in a time of social tension (I say perceived because historians debate how violent the British really were, but it was almost certainly less than propaganda advertised).

I need to investigate if my old bike got burnt up in the house fire, or if it survived.

If it did not survive, there's a bike store I know of about 8 miles up the road.

If it did survive, it probably still needs a tune-up.

I used to hoof it everywhere until I got a bike (I can't drive for a variety of hilarious reasons I won't bog down the conversation with), and it's served me well. Just as good as driving a car as far as local transportation goes, in my opinion.

You don't need to shell out for an expensive model to get a quality one either. Although I tend to prefer hand brakes because I'm not very coordinated.

How far did you have to usually walk to places? Most places that I'd be getting to are between 5 and 10 miles away and that seems significant, especially in a city with high crime.

I'm afraid I can't rightly say. I do after all live in a small town of less than eight thousand. I guess I really didn't consider the urban blight issue.

Going outside in a city where less than 300 murders a year is a good year... Average of 4,000 robberies and 5,000 assaults per year... Not a prospect I take lightly.

Especially when I'm white in a city that's 75% black. I stick out like a sore thumb.

Was pondering on something and not sure where to post this. I wondered what peoples thoughts on avatars/display pictures are?

Like, some people prefer using a picture of themselves, because they want to be more open and personal. Meanwhile others use an image they like, not necessarily because they DON'T want to be open or personal, but that can often be the case. Or an image they might of drawn themselves, for whatever reason.

Anyway, I was wondering what everyone's stances on that are. Why they personally choose the avatars that they do?

In my case I've most commonly always used an avatar that is made of an image that I've drawn myself. Or somekind of image of myself where my face is covered. This is because I do like being personal to a certain degree, but generally don't like pictures of my own face, so I have pictures where I'm dressed up in some manner, or drawings I've made myself, because then it still feels like me.

I actually can't remember what I used for avatars prior to my Zeppelin one, which I adopted back in 2007 or so. I was fascinated by Zeppelins at the time, so I mocked up a model of one to use as an avatar. I upgraded it a few years later to add some extra features and greeble. Now I use a picture that Jester drew of me as an airship commander, because it's awesome.

I don't think I've ever payed much attention to avatars, beyond serving as a very visible way to identify a person.

I don't use pictures of myself because I have never, ever taken a photo that I actually like. I just pick something I think is funny.

For a while my avatar was some really cool Lazav fan art I found on deviantART, but now it's a headshot of Dr. Strangelove because I fucking love that movie.

I went through a couple in the past that were just images I liked, but for the last four years or so I've pretty consistently stuck with this. I drew it myself, and while it wasn't intended to be me, it kind of ended up that way.

I'm kind of in the same camp where I like that it feels personal, but I don't really want to have my face associated with everything I put online, just because I'm a fairly private person.

And now any attempt to change it feels weird, so I guess I'm sticking with it for the foreseeable future.
