Who else is dead? We seem to be developing a record for most famous dead people this year.

I read about her recent hospitalization earlier this week. When I checked her Wiki page for some biographical info I found someone had left graffiti in the form of a ridiculous & rude love letter. Reversing the change was the first time I have ever edited Wikipedia. For you, Bettie.

I think the definition of "famous" has become severely broadened.
I'm still trying to figure out why someone didn't tell me how awesome Muse is.

Meaning no disrespect to Miss Page, she died of complications from a heart attack at age 85. I wouldn't say "shocking".

It is, however, unexpected, and very sad. Bettie Page was awesome. I saw her A&E Bio a few years ago, it was really facinating.
She'll live on as she already does, as the quintessential pin-up.

I have to agree Graham, this is sad, but not shocking. I wonder how Siobhan is handling it. I mean she is our resident pin-up photographer and model...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I WANTED HER TO LIVE FOREVAAR.

Personally, Bettie was never my favorite. It was those Hepburn eyes that kill me. Sad to see her go...she did break down a mofuggin brick house for the pin up world and women alike. We can now get away with showing more than our ankles! She was a talented woman, and her work and spirit will definitly live on.

So long Bettie, dearest. You will live in the hearts, photos and tattoos of people everywhere.

So, not really knowing who she was I went and wikipedia'd her real quick.

My findings? She was bad-ass. Now knowing this, it's sad to see her go.

I agree, I bet Bettie would be apalled at the ways some girls dress in sororities at universities today. I mean she was all about female sensuality and showing some skin while remaining mysterious. Today the only mystery is the exact amount of vagina is covered up by the skirt.

I was gonna say something, but then I saw those pictures and it just went off into thin air.

What was it now? Ah yes:
Say what you want about Bettie's pictures non-nude, nude, bondage etc. I still think she represents a more healthy and natural body figure then most models today.

You missed a picture, Siobhan.

Anyways, I'm glad she didn't die completely penniless, that would have been harsh given her popularity. [Emperor Gum removes hat and bows head at Bettie Page]

Certainly so, back then the term "size zero" would have meant a physical impossibility.

If it helps, someday everyone here will be dead.

Did that help? No, no need to thank me.

Shutuuuuuuuup. You knew what I meant. I mean I'm sure Bettie was clothed for a good amount of her life. I think she wanted women to be sensual and provacative in their appearances, but not walking around scantily clad in miniskirts and tube tops IN THE WINTER, LIKE I'VE SEEN THE PAST FEW WEEKENDS AT PENN STATE (DUMB BIMBOS! AT LEAST PUT A PAIR OF PANTIES ON!). Bettie was for art not trash.

Now, this may be pretty low-brow, but I'm sure her breasts change sizes between the second and third picture there :?

I think that's becuase she has her arm up, basically lifting and stretching. Also, shes on different angles.

Which basically points out an actual, real difference between Bettie Page and modern pinups: her breasts do not maintain a constant shape regardless of stretching or posing, because presumably they are made of actual organic tissue.

You mean the models in nudie magazines don't have NATURAL BOOBIES?!!?!? *head asplode*

In case anyone was confused by my comments over all this, I am a big proponent of positive self image in women, and feeling great while looking good, but so much of the clothing industry is about "Guys like looking when they can see more of it" and I can't stand it. I think that a woman is at her sexiest when she covers up the right stuff and only gives a hint of what is underneath it all. Mystery is intriguing, and I don't think a few, if any, guys exist at my age (23) that seem to appreciate this fact.

While I understand and agree with you for the most part... Bettie Page wasn't an advocate of low brow seduction. She was known best for her bondage spanking nudie bad ass self.
(until her later years)

I feel like kind of a hypocrite... I'm a fan of cute low cut 50's dresses..but I'm not a fan of mini skirts that girls asses hang out of. I think there's a certain level of taste in clothing. I like curves and hints.. I dont like seeing your labia flapping around to Timberland.
