So I organise the Unofficial Ask An Alex Live Thread, and in my immaculate and epic first post I've noticed two things.
1. This link: http://wiki.loadingreadyrun.com/index.p ... ve_-_Again!
>apparently you can't end hyperlinks in exclaimation marks in the forum
>if I put it in it makes the whole post come up blank
Q. is there any way of making this into a functioning hyperlink?
2. I have to edit the first post several times a week, so at present I've edited that single first post 85 times
Q. what happens when I get to 99?
Now we all now that doing this thing breaks the post size (it works with images too):
1111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111
We also know if you link to your avatar image rather than upload it, it can be as big as you want, but what other ways have people found of breaking the forum?
Can I break the forum twice in one post?

also if you have parentheses in a hyperlink it wont work either.

That is bizarre. As anyone reading this can guess, I've already come up with at least one way to abuse it.
Next question: does the post content still exist?
A: yes it does. Very interesting.
I just tried it on another forum, and it works the way it's supposed to. That is, my post isn't blank over there.

substitutions which work in links:
! %21
( %28
) %29
breaking the forum should be easy and undetectable if HTML code were enabled.

Alternately, Matt or Paul will probably be along in an hour or two and remove what makes it invisible(the exclamation mark at the end of the URL.)
I wonder if it works elsewhere in the URL, or only at the end.

but seriously; you can use the %hexcode substitution for all special characters in a URL. You'll notice that spaces always get inserted as %20.
