The next RE game will be a new cast/story.
I've heard RE6 was going to be a reboot in some capacity. That's good news. The series was getting ridiculous but the only thing that I lament about it as a whole is that they never had a game where all the major players were in the plot at once.
Also, the plot wasn't that stupid all things considered. Accept that it's essentially a zombie movie and there you are (we're not talking epic character development here).
The problems I have with the story are elevating Wesker to epic villain status (Revolver Ocelot syndrome), establishing in the first few minutes of the game that Jill was 'killed' between games (I generally boycott any story that uses flashbacks to reveal important plot points), and introducing Sheva when they already have a wealth of characters that they could use (like, say,
Jill that would have let the player not playing Chris feel less like "the second player"/sidekick). That's not to say Sheva was a bad character, I liked her a lot. It feels like she's just there for the same reason Howard Stern has Robin Quivers.
