LR LABS- How to Impress Women

Postby Graham » 25 Feb 2005, 18:03

Here's a submission by a pair of our supporting writers, Johnny_Lunchbox and Kathleen De Vere.

This was shot both on location in Prince George, and thanks to Carolynne, Travis and Kathleen for being in it, and back here in Victoria, where Paul and the projector live.

Lab coats courtesy of the UNBC student newspaper office, in the manner of, "Those things? You want those? They've been there for years, take them!" So thanks for that.

As you might be able to tell from the music I used, LR LABS is kind of the new "X Ways to Y". Most of the ideas we come up with for that concept seem to work better in this format. I hope this'll meet your approval, Alanna.

He he he. I had a lot of fun writing that with Johnny, and then a lot of fun filming it. The irony of course, is that Carolynne and Travis (the couple who hit it off) aren't going out, and me and Graham (the people who didn't hit it off), are of course a couple.
I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

I'm also oddly pleased with how I look in that video... for some strange reason. Must be flu induced.

Hehe...I must say, even though I read a draft script for this one, I'm quite impressed with the finished product. That was pretty funny guys...I liked the bit about "Don't ask her to start popping out babies".
"I swear it," said the other mother. "I swear it on my own mother's grave."

"Does she have a grave?" asked Coraline.

"Oh yes," said the other mother. "I put her in there myself. And when I found her trying to crawl out, I put her back."

Very nice indeed! :D
I liked the slide show; stick figures are fun!

But my Welsh acting professor would have a fit;
"Shakespeare" not "Shakespere".
Unless this was intended as an irony, in which case pay no attention to me and my annoying nit-picking.

...and of course this could be an alternate spelling, in which case my lack of knowledge on the subject would serve as an even deeper irony that would gradually drive me mad to think about to much...

...

...my brain hurts. :(
Time flies like an arrow;
Fruit flies like a banana.

Once again, brilliantly funny. This is my favorite one in quite some time. Everyone did a great job in their parts, perfect physicality. As always, I love me some Kathleen De Vere (you are an incredible writer), and Johnny_Lunchbox, you were right, I did cry a little.

This was without a doubt the funiest thing that I have ever had the priviledge to participate in (other than putting firecrackers in a occupied port-a-john). It went really well. I especially like beatdown that poor graham gets and I certainly appreciate the irony of it. I just hope that I do not recieve the same beatdown when my fiance Tanya sees the video. It can only go one of two ways: she'll think it hilarious or, i'll be in the hospital. So pray LLR, pray to jesus.

Becky says her favourite part was Gibb, and she says you should do an ALL Gibb video.

Also, Armand, thanks for complimenting my writing, but keep in mind that it wouldn't be nearly as funny without Graham and Paul's directing, editing, and all the acting.

WOW! That was great!

No longer sad the X ways to Y went away!

REALLY was well done and computer animation mixed with a bit of live action.... well thought out, well executed and well delivered!

You are getting even more creative and it works! in FACT it makes the movie even better and it isn't just for show!

now all I can gripe about is..... MORE!

Oh I realize the importance of every person's role in making a film, being the person in thier shoes for "Random Acts" I could get no where without every person we have to utilize, and I hope that Graham and Paul know that I have only the highest respect and admiration for what they do because I live it. But I have found, in my experience, that the people who seem to get overlooked the most, are the writers, whose job is nowhere near easy, and was just making sure that you, my lady, and Johnny_Lunchbox get your "props" as well.

Good job. Althou Kathleen, i seem to think i saw you crack few smiles as you were attempting to punch graham. how do you find writting a script with someone who lives on the other side of the country? must be sorta tricky, anyways hats off to all of you.

Me and Bill collaborated through MSN. And when I write scripts with Graham it's usually when we visit one another, and I have some kind of "funny idea" which are few and far between.

And yes, I crack a few smiles in that video because I'm not an actor, and I don't know how to throw fake punches, so everytime I tried hitting him, I always laughed and said "I didn't really hit you, did I?" I think I actually did a couple of times.

Yes...ironic indeed. Although Travis and I are good friends, we are quite content in our respective relationships.
I'm glad you liked the movie! It was fun making it.

Must be hard writing scripts in collaboration when your communications are limited by msn.

MSN is the devil, and tells me it's too busy to let me play, and that I should go hide in the closet and cry.

Yeah, I was quite pleased with how this one turned out, too.

Makes me wonder what you're going to do with 'me next one.

Hee hee hee.

I'm hitting a phase with my 'other writing' where it's mostly butchering and rewriting, so I just might be able to muster together enough juices to grind out another wonderful waste of time. Eventually.

'Meantime, great job, and keep up the good work, guys. And, Kathleen, don't worry about the giggling. I tell's 'ya what--next time I'm out there, I'll teach you the proper way to punch your boyfriend.

Awesome! Best one in a while. I was hooked when Gib (!!!!) appeared but it just got better. The beatdownz were really good! The laughing only made it better for me! I like X ways to Y but if LLR Labs has Gib...I'm all for the labs.
