The Old Spice Guy

Postby theduckthief » 14 Jul 2010, 22:02

He's apparently leaving personal messages on YouTube for everyone who tweeted about his last commercial. The responses he leaves are hilarious. I want to know who's writing his material.

You can also create a personalized man voicemail with him. It's quite hilarious, and I love these commercials dearly.

Unfortunatly I watched all the youtube comment response ones at once, and I felt it almost cheapened the initial allure of the commercial. Still hilarious and epic never the less.

I watched a few this morning and found that the channel's been uploading new videos all day. It's crazy! I'm wondering exactly how many he's going to do.

Yeah that link was posted in the youtube thread. But still; this is a fun commercial trend that's started to get big.

Blendtech probebly started it with Will it blend; by making cool but silly youtube videos about a product; elevating it into internet culture. And Old Spice is basically doing the same thing. And hey, i'm all for that; it's fun!

I scrolled down on youtube this morning, and all 4 slots on the "now being viewed" were filled by him when the page loaded.

Holy mother of god.

Well all good things must come to an end. I'm pretty sure this is going to go down in history as the first successful social media advertising campaign. It was interactive, totally non-invasive and will likely make Isaiah Mustafa a huge star! Here's hoping he gets Luke Cage!

This was the best marketing campaign I've ever seen, and the first I've ever felt like I was a part of on some level. He may not have responded to my tweet to him, but knowing someone that he DID respond to is really cool. I have to admit, next time I shop for deodorant I'll be looking for which of their 14 different scents is right for me.

You do realise they're still making them, right?

I find it amazing that in just a day, a guy from a TV commercial became a beloved internet star, surrounded in legend on the level of Chuck Norris.

Also, I'm surprised and disappointed that more people don't read the Crew's Twitter feed. :(

I bought a stick of old spice yesterday. Any company that media savvy deserves a shot at my wallet.

(incidentally, I like the scent that I bought, but it's maybe too strong - and I say that as an Axe wearer).

. . . and then they posted two more afterwards. Odd.

I was just looking at the most recent ones in my 'subscriptions' feed; my bad.

Ok, so there's Matt for sure. Who else has purchased an Old Spice product since this ad campaign started?

It got me to actually look at the deodorant I use, and the waveform collapsed into Old Spice.

My BFF switched over to old spice because of those commercials, and he hit on the hot chick that was stocking them. It was hilarious and epic because my BFF is super shy and reserved and can hardly say hi to a girl. Yet he went full fledged man hook on her.
