How are you feeling... in song
How are you feeling... in song
This is a thread to say how you're feeling, or what's going through your head, but there's a rule:
You must say it using ONE verse and/or chorus from a song
I'll start:
There's a place in the dark where the animals go
You can take off your skin in the cannibal glow
Juliet loves the beat and the lust it commands
Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, Romeo
I've really been on a bender and it shows
So why don't you blow me
A kiss before she goes
Give me a shot to remember
And you can take all the pain away from me
Your kiss and I will surrender
The sharpest lives are the deadliest to lead
A light to burn all the empires
So bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be
In love with all of these vampires
So you can leave like the sane abandoned me

Re: How are you feeling... in song
Despite the fact that it's Sunday, this pretty much covers it:
Saturday, what a day, what a silly little day
Time to kill, take a pill, as I sit and contemplate
How I'd like to be around all the people in the town with their fancy cars and things
But I've got time
Stop pushin' all your tragedies away
Each moment has got a lesson for the day
Take something with you if you drag your heels in yesterdays
Oh these Saturdays

Something's gotta change
I know i'm lucky in a lot of ways
So why do I want more
Than what I have?
Brace myself to hear the lies
I wonder if they know that I
Don't get the jokes but I just
Need to laugh
So don't take my photograph
Cos I don't wanna know how it looks
To feel like this
As cars and people pass
It feels like standing still but I know
I'm just moving uncomfortably slow
I know i'm lucky in a lot of ways
So why do I want more
Than what I have?
Brace myself to hear the lies
I wonder if they know that I
Don't get the jokes but I just
Need to laugh
So don't take my photograph

I'm getting pretty pumped for Desert Bus, so. . .
Dansa med oss
Klappa era händer
Gör som vi gör
Ta några steg åt vänster
Lyssna och lär
Missa inte chansen
Nu är vi har med
Caramelldansen
I don't even know what that means, but it works.

Steve Hackett, "The Ballad of the Decomposing Man", Spectral Mornings:
In a very large factory I belong
And I work the night shift all week long
Freddy on a chainsaw lost his feet
Thinking 'bout a blonde he'll never meet
Tried to take his life again the other week
Keep your chin up, haven't a care 'ave you?
Just join the party, allegiance I swear

I'll wait for you till I turn blue
There's nothin' more a man can do
Don't get your bollocks in a twist
Settle down, don't take a fit
Ya drank with demons straight from Hell
They almost nearly won as well
Ya wiped the floor with victory
Then puked until you fell asleep
Blackened was the banshee's wail
These boots will never fill her jail
So you crawled into an empty boat
For the Gulf of Mexico
Till Cortez came an' when so did you
From the ashes charred and blue
Smellin' like a Salty Dog
Back from Hell where you belong
Flogging Molly, The Pirate Song
and also
The status of our future in both past and present time,
is relegated to a member of a higher class than mine.
To determine and direct the lives of family men who bear the burden
of living up to standard that doesn't exist in 1999
Who's gonna save us from this lonely picket line,
10 years of service but I'm still not worth your time.
Times may be changing but I'll never leave behind the hopes
and thoughts I have of better days for families such as mine.
Because if history repeats itself and time will surely tell.
What goes around is gonna come around and you'll know our pain too well.

Bombs are flying
People are dying
Children are crying
Politicians are lying too.
Cancer is killing
Texaco's spilling
The whole world's gone to hell
But how are you?
I'm super
Thanks for asking
All things considered
I couldn't be better I must say
I'm feeling super
No, nothing bugs me
Everything is super when you're
Don't you think I look cute in this hat

(because i'm REALLY dreading my bio-midterm...)
Well, I'd like to visit the moon
On a rocket ship high in the air
Yes, I'd like to visit the moon
But I don't think I'd like to live there
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't want to live on the moon

I'm addicted to the city lights, I guess you're right
But something changed tonight
I made it through with spontaneity
But this monotony is killing me
It's 2 am man the house is cold, I'm feeling old
Looking back at how time's rolled
I know somewhere stars fill up the night, that must be such a sight
It'd make me whole again inside
I'm getting closer, closer the farther I drive away
I'm getting colder, colder the longer I stay
Don't know how much time I got to spend right here
I've been avoiding but it's time to face my fear, right here
Looks like this episode should end
And I'll miss my friends
Pack our bags, bust to horizon
Won't stop till I see the sun rising
Looking in to darkest oblivion
Might help humble jaded opinion
What'll come will come of this mission
No guarantee to hinder depression
When I leave I won't make a sound
Make sure no one's around
Where am I headed? I'm headed eastward bound.

I'm blue da ba dee da ba die...
I have a blue house with a blue window.
Blue is the colour of all that I wear.
Blue are the streets and all the trees are too.
I have a girlfriend and she is so blue.
Blue are the people here that walk around,
Blue like my corvette, it's standing outside.
Blue are the words I say and what I think.
Blue are the feelings that live inside me.

Re: How are you feeling... in song
I have a problem that I cannot explain,
I have no reason why it should have been so plain,
Have no questions but I sure have excuse,
I lack the reason why I should be so confused,
I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I, don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
Around you,
I have no reason why it should have been so plain,
Have no questions but I sure have excuse,
I lack the reason why I should be so confused,
I know, how I feel when I'm around you,
I, don't know, how I feel when I'm around you,
Around you,

Re: How are you feeling... in song
I know how to cheat at Tattslotto,
I've got a great idea for a song,
I know the truth about Marilyn Monroe,
I can prove Einstein's theory wrong.
I can predict mankind's fate,
I know where there's oil in Bass Strait,
All the deserts I could irrigate,
All the poor I could emancipate.
But that's not what motivates me,
I'm interested in apathy.
Apathy, apathy, apathy,
Apathy, apathy, apathy.
(Song is "I'm Interested in Apathy" by TISM.)

Re: How are you feeling... in song
@Fiend - I totally less than three my Flogging Molly albums. Glad they're ripped or they'd be completely worn out.
For my song de jour:
Somebody needs a hug
A little personal attention
A little loving and affection
I'm talking full body
Good god almighty
Woo! Come on and get ya some!
You need to be wrapped up
Snug as a bug in a rug
Good ole Teddy Bear squeeze
Where you can barely breath
Somebody needs a hug!
- Keith Anderson, "Hug" (obviously)

Theres a specter in the corner of an illustrated page
and a lonesome muted stripling with a rapt remedial gaze
the poverty of his language and th wealth of his emotion
bring him endless murky musing and unexpected frustration
angst and madness weave the fabric of his life
Tomorrow might be better but right now it feels like

Re: How are you feeling... in song
At first I was like, "I listen to music to IGNORE what I'm feeling." Right now, I'm stressed because I don't know if I can finish my pilot for the Escapist Film Festival and I need help. I put out a Facebook message for someone, anyone to help me. How is this in a song?
Then, I play "Message in a Bottle" by the Police.

I have changed
I have changed
Just like you
Just like you
For how long
For how long
Must I wait
I know there's something wrong
Your concrete heart isn't beating
And you tried to
Make it come alive
No shadows
Just red lights
Now I'm here to rescue you
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive and
I can't apologise, no
Oh I'm still alive
I'm still alive and

I can't look at The Rocket Launch,
The Trophy Wives of the Astronauts,
And I won't listen to their words,
'Cause I like,
Birds.
I don't care for walkin' downtown,
Crazy auto-car gonna mow me down,
Look at all the people like cows in a herd,
Well, I like,
Birds.
If you're small and on a search,
I've got a feeder for you to perch on.
I can't stand in line at the store,
The mean little people are such a bore,
But it's alright if you act like a turd,
'Cause I like,
Birds.
(So much shit, but man just got to love the simple things. Y'know?)

Well Mother, what the war did to my legs and to my tongue,
You should've raised a baby girl,
I should've been a better son.
If you could coddle the infection
They can amputate at once.
You should've been,
I could have been a better son.
And when we go don't blame us, yeah.
We'll let the fires just bathe us, yeah.
You made us, oh, so famous.
We'll never let you go.
She said: "You ain't no son of mine
For what you've done they're gonna find
A place for you
And just you mind your manners when you go.
And when you go, don't return to me, my love."
That's right.
Mama, we all go to hell.
Mama, we all go to hell.
It's really quite pleasant
Except for the smell,
Mama, we all go to hell.
