Pikachaos you are not so far from me. The line can be planned to head straight down to you.I was actually hoping a bit could run through my bay. At that depth it will look very nice.

I would love that, if you wanted to. I'm kinda far away I think though. So only if you want to.

Give me your coord from F3 of where you would like the line to come to and I'll look in to it.

Okie doke, was wondering, just lemme know when you guys figure something out.

Edit: Time to do some wandering on single player it looks like.

Edit 2: Don't suppose there is any sort of time frame on when it will be fixed? Single player just isn't the same....

The return line from Southbase is now fully operating, and I'm not going to bother putting up railings.

Long version:
The torches, track, and boosters are placed on the return line, it's just missing complete railings.
I've collected enough cobble to finish it all in smooth stone, but it's higher than the southward line so that would mean you couldn't actually see down to get your position. As such, I'd like to fill the gaps in the rail with glass, but that would be something under 4000 sand (62 stacks) to do.

Since it works as it is, having nothing there is an even better view than glass, there's a snake in my boot, and I don't feel like gathering all that sand.. I'm just going to assume people won't be walking along this rail line, and leave it like it is.

Process of Construction:
I followed the original rail, placing the base at 104 (press f3 while on it, the height reads 105.6)
I placed a torch on that every 4 spaces (1 torch, gap of 3, repeat) for pre-measuring the optimal lighting, and measuring the track. Off those torches, on alternating sides, a block was placed and then the torch was moved onto the block.
Track was laid, and I inflated some pigs to use for making an armada of creeper-spawning attack blimps.
And finally, with this framework set up, I could make boosters exactly 7 long (between the torch blocks) that were spaced at every 80 blocks (73 between them) by counting 10 torch blocks on the right side. At this spacing, an empty cart boosted only once stops at just over half-way between boosters.

To use:
-Option 1: make a ladder or stairs up, and just walk to the nearest booster. You'll only be a maximum of 37 blocks away from one no matter where you arrive on the line
-Option 2: Make tracks up to the line, and a booster to get the cart up. Join your tracks in by just removing a couple and putting in a turn north/east, there's no problem.
-Option 3: Dance party

Polynomial:
I'd like to thank Cal and Gaspode for all the stone, and darthabella's iron even though it turned out I had enough and could give it back.

Late nights, Pine logistics and Lapis Lazuili.
The following image concerns the south western area of the map.
I need to go somewhere for new materials so I pulled up carto and what do I see. Nearby, new terrain, completely parallel to India and roughly the same size. So I propose TwIndia!

As you can see, the line is naturally occurring and divides between new and old terrain. I will build an offshoot of my underground tunnels to head that way. It would also ensure that anywhere Ken_ohki2 and Pikachaos decide to build their connecting rail they will have an easy time connecting up with me.

If anyone objects please let me know. I know it sounds silly but I envision a land of parallel opposites.

Aww, I kinda like mobs bein around. How can you not love pigs? They're so friendly, comin up to you with that incredibly dumb look on their face. So interested in what you're doing despite the utter hopelessness of their grasping it. How can you say no to moments like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGkkyKZVzug#t=5m50s?

Are you listening pig?

Progress report on the Loading Ready Railroad

As of this morning all four trunk lines are up and running, even it there isn't station infrastructure at the terminus points.

The next stage of the project will be to install some basic launching systems at the ends of each of the trunk lines, as well as to start laying branch lines from the stations to local hub areas, for example a branch from the desert bus station up to near the world tree region.

At the current time here is the current map of the system:

Well that's all for now.

If it's any aid, Biome 3 covers a few different chunks and provides ample spawning space for animal mobs. Assuming someone was around LRRNAP, it's likely it would virtually monopolise the animal population, reducing the annoyance for others.

Anyone have a problem with me building a branch line from the northern station to my castle?

Shown in purple is my proposed line. The tunnel will be about 15 blocks below sea level.

So I took a slight break from working on biome 3, because I've been wanting to do something for quite a while.

See, after my saves were lost with my laptop being reset, I started a brand new world just before beta hit. I knew squid were around, but I never once encountered them in my new world.

Once I started a second world to work on LRRNAP, every so often I'd see them floating around while I was changing view distances, but just kept on working rather than indulge myself.

Today I decided to do it anyway. I climbed the ladder, hopped along to the bridge, dove in with a fist full of glowstone, and followed a squid around the base of Biome 3.

I'll definitely enjoy diving in Biome 2.

Hey crusher,
Feel free to build a branch line to the location of the future north station. All I ask is that, if possible, wherever you end the line be easily accessible for others to use. It's not mandatory, but if it runs directly into your base it's even more of a chance for people to grief/steal from you through opportunity alone.

I will also warn you that I probably wont be putting in anything other than very basic launching solution until we get the new server mods up and running because there are several new mechanisms which will make the job much quicker and less headache inducing.

I should be on later today around or after 1:00pm PST and if you message me I can provide you with some track and carts for boosters.

happy carting,

Also Crusher, I might want to hook up my neck of the woods in the Northwest with that northern line at some point. If you need materials and construction help, lemme know, as I might as well help you with your extension and set the foundations for my own connection at the same time.
