Re: Share your Art with the world!
First of all; no. I don't even have any examples of drawings just laying around that I can upload. And I don't mean good examples, I mean examples period.
Let me put it this way: I can apparently take awesome pictures like a boss but I can't draw to save my life. The Lord givith, the Lord takith away.
Meanwhile, because we have so many awesome artists here on the site do we have any kind of LRR group on dA? If not I may make one...

Would that be LRR-related art? Or just general art?

A bit of both, really. I suppose we could have a folder for just LRR-related fan art, but I meant more along the lines of just a collective Runners group were we can share our art.

I like that idea! I've already added everyone who posted their DA accounts to my watch list! =)
I haven't drawn a lot of new things for a couple of months, plan on getting something done soon though. Anything! This is the latest sketch I finished though. ^^
Oh, yeah and my DA is Dexpo.deviantart.com

Alright, the #LoadingReadyArtists group is now in the group approval cue on dA.
Yes, apparently there's a group approval cue. Who would've thought?
Anyway, I'll start sending out invites to people once it's live. When it's up the group permissions will let you just submit artwork directly without having to wait for approval or anything like that.

I think I remember someone making a LRR group on dA, but I could very well be wrong. In fact, I just checked. Here it is.

*raises hand* Forgive me for asking, but who is AC_Drawings again? :/
Also, that one seems to be almost entirely fan-art related... and kind of dead...

He's on here with more or less the same user name.. and yeah, it does seem inactive. But then, how much LRR related art can have gone up recently?

I prefer Van's idea of starting a new with a group for LRR fans to join and share their art(not just LRR related) with each other seems nice.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
That's kind of the reason I had the idea for a more general group. There are a lot of different creative types in this community. Photographers, painters, sketch artists, writers, cartoonists, graphic designers, crafts makers, and so on. Odds are that very few of them have made any kind of fan art but still have a lot of work to show off to those willing to see it.
Re: Share your Art with the world!
Yeah I saw the existing one before and thought about joining but was deterred by the inactivity. So a new one might be better.

Re: Share your Art with the world!
I would like to be part of a group like that, I might be able to get feedback on some of my stuff, but moreso because then I can see what everyone else in the community have done, and looking at this thread thus far it'd definely be interesting to see. ^_^

Oh, all right.
But I just want to say that I do admire your photographic prowess. You've a great sense of composition. I tip my metaphorical hat to you.

It's alive! It's aliiiiivvvvve!!!!
LoadingReadyArtists
I'll quickly create several different folders for different art disciplines and start inviting people. I'll also give admin to a few people like Elomin, Jester, Deedles, etc
I need suggestions for what kind of art we need folders for, by the way!

Re: Share your Art with the world!
Okay, I've sent out invites to everyone I know of who has a dA page (which is twelve people thus far). Everyone else needs to join themselves to make up for my own crippling ignorance and incompetence.
EDIT: And with that I'm calling it a night. I have to get up at the crack of dawn tomorrow and the bulk of my morning is going to be taken up by things that I'm going to describe as "things I don't want to do". In the meantime you guys are going to have to be left up to your own devices to populate the folders with awesomeness.
Anyone not already invited can join as a "contributor" and can submit an unlimited amount of artwork to any given folder. If anyone has any problems let me know and it'll get taken care of "eventually".

Aw, you guys are making me wish I had artistic abilities. That is, of the visual arts, not performing. Blah. (James: I have a dA and I would like to be part of this! program-IX.deviantart.com)

Sooo, I totally won an award for my graphics work for the 2011 Mock Firm Competition that the undergraduate students entered this year. I had to assist them in the design of their printed materials. They placed very highly and my graphic work was very well received so I'm chuffed. Figure put it here as this is apparently the new place to post.

A picture I'm doing for Fayili and Program_IX.. it's a work in progress, and needs a TARDIS, some trees, and maybe some more work besides.
Thought I'd share it since the two subjects need to see it at some point, and at least I'm done colouring and drawing them.

So, apparently I lied. Twice. I found a very old sketch laying around in a sketchbook I use for graphic design that is far from being finished, but what's there isn't all that bad.
Okay, there's actually a story behind this "sketch". This is from a time in the distant past before the "Crying Man" design got subsumed into my internet persona. Originally that helmet and the design on it belonged to a character called Vennith, one of the two major characters in a story I was going to write called Antithesis.
To make things simple, the main character, a young woman named Anessa Rhae, accidentally discovers that she has the ability to "shift" between worlds one night during a particularly traumatic dream, and Vennith is a member of an order that acts as border guardians between worlds in order to preserve balance. Simply put Vennith becomes Anessa's mentor and the plot would have moved on from there.
I remember my plan here was to draw Vennith as being large, imposing, and mysterious before tracing this outline of him onto another page and then attempting to draw Anessa into the picture from there. The plan was to draw her latching onto Vennith a lot like a little kid would a parent; out of fear and looking for comfort. After that I was going to ink Vennith entirely in black except for a few areas left white and try to color in Anessa with some art pencils I had laying around. I never got around to that step because I suck at a great deal many things when it comes to drawing people, the most important amongst them being proportions and and faces. Somewhere around the time I drew this I gave up on trying to develop a "style" and just stopped bothered trying.
I still think a lot about Antithesis and get ideas for it all the time, but at this point what was going to be Vennith's "face" (and an important plot point and piece of character development) is essentially my face online, and part of me doesn't want to write it thinking people will see the character as a glorified Author Avatar, which he's not.
Well, there you go. Not only did you see the one example of a drawing I can find, but against my best efforts you people actually learned something about me in the process.
P.S. - I had to download and reinstall the driver for my printer in order to scan this, which took for frick'n ever. Be grateful.

I am very grateful, thank you. And you don't draw that terribly, I mean, most of my sketches are of a similar level of quality, just occasionally I draw something and it turns out better than usual. These are the ones I show people. <____< The rest end up packed away or shredded as they should be.
Also your story sounds interesting. For what it's worth, I'd read it, and I don't read a lot of fiction. You'll have to tell me if you do ever write it.

Just wanted to add that I love Graham and Matt's facial expressions in this one. There is something inherently Graham and Matt about them (à la cH).
No offense meant to any Grahams or Matts who may be offended by such a statement.
Anyway, here's something I drew today. It's not dA-worthy so I'm posting it here.
A tomcat. I have no real sense of perspective, so the eyes are always a little wrong, no matter what I draw or at what angle (save profile). He seems like a bit of a charmer to me, but I have no idea why.

Cool, glad you two like it.
I had no idea what your heights were like compared to one another as neither of you were online when I (occasionally) came on to ask, and I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the two of you standing next to eachother.. though I could be wrong.
