Phailbook
A girl gets tattoo of the face of a man she had been dating for only one week. I'm sure you can imagine how this went down on Facebook:

I am also more happy. So at the very least, it's a wash happiness-wise.

Well.. I'm entertained, but also saddened. Did the crazy nutball learn where she went wrong and start changing? Or did she get worse and blame the guy for the relationship ending?

If I learned anything from the restraining order process and installing a new back door after the break ins. Crazy obsessed chicks never learn anything no matter what you tell them. You are always just hiding your true feelings.

I really want to believe this is fake because I'd like to retain a little faith in humanity. Also, it's on The Chive, and they've pulled good hoaxes before.

I wish I could but a friend of mine's co-worker got a random guy's name tattoo'd on her on a pot leaf because of a bet for $200, however the tattoo cost about $150 and she was planning on getting it removed anyways or at least the name which is going to probably cost more than the tattoo originally was. Also she had to pay for the tattoo out of pocket. So I'm not surprised at all if this was real.

The line separating mock-news-programmes and real news programmes have been blurred in the last century. I wouldn't be surprised if this phenomenon applies to everything.
Re: Phailbook
True, also I think the guy isn't too bright either, who would pay for their girlfriend of 1 week to get a tattoo anyways?

They did a poor job with censoring the names, I googled the guy and at least he's got that picture on his page. So it seems like it's real...
What got me was the girls' friends didn't seem to see the utter stupidity in getting a tattoo of a guy you've date for a week -.-

That's the part that weakens what little faith in humanity I have left.
And to make matters worse, I'm sure at least some of those 'Hartley Supporters' are still convinced this is not a hoax, and will refuse to listen to even Austin himself admitting it.

Apparently he and his friend made a bunch of fake friend accounts along with the fake girlfriend account. The entire thing was done as a troll. They came out with it publicly before someone outed them.

I know you're trying to make me feel better, but it's not gonna work - years and DECADES of empirical evidence cannot be overturned by one anecdote.
