Nope, thats not a problem. I know how to maintain a computer. It's been running about 4 years without needing a reinstall. (And the last reinstall was because the guys at the service desk at my university pooched up the install of a new WiFi card so bad Windows crapped itself)

(And my desktop runs windows 7 :-)

PHEW! Bug found and destroyed. Finally!

http://irc.fugiman.com/ should be back and ready for your testing enjoyment.

And again, thank you SO MUCH for helping me out here! Hopefully this means I won't have to cry as everything breaks during Desert Bus. (Everything will break during Desert Bus)

It seems to be working for me. Good work, Fugiman. I like the web client better than running a separate program.

EDIT: Just so I understand better, are donor accounts carrying over from last year, or do we need to re-register?

Using the school computers I have no problems, will check again at home on my Mac.

From what I understand of this thread (though I would like it confirmed), the donor accounts will be carried over, but the current testing system is not using the live database, so if you want to test the system, you'll need to register a new account. Once it goes live, the actual accounts will be used.

Please confirm, Fugi?

Absolutely correct. I've already had to wipe the test database once, so I didn't want to hook the server up to the real donor database until I knew for sure that everything was finalized and good. Once testing is over, the server will be connected to the donor database and all of last years accounts will still be there. You WILL have to reset your password though (we changed the hashing algorithm :( )

Also for people having problems, a little more context than "It doesn't work" would be appreciated. Screenshots of what you see, browser/os versions (even if you've said it earlier in the thread), anything you can think of :)

And once again, thank you everybody. I've already gotten tons of great feedback and bugs. It's been super helpful!

The web client works somewhat on Firefox. It takes a while before the #desertbus channel shows up and the Userlist will not show at all or sporadically just show up but not show all those in the channel.

On IE 8 get stuck on the Choose Yo nick page after login.

For previous failure, as before, iBook G4 OSX 10.4.11, FF 3.6. Entered nick, nothing happened except screen returned empty.

Now at work compy, Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz, 0.99 Gb Ram, Windows XP SP3, FF 16.0.1 - and the chat works.

The reason everything failed for you was because you put a space in your nickname, and the client choked. I've changed it so that you can no longer try to have a space in your nick.

IE is not supported yet. I'm working on it! :)

FF 3.6 *should* work now. Let me know if it still doesn't. Good to hear that later versions work fine :)

I saw you join the channel, hang around for a while, then leave. Didn't see any messages from you though :(

Is there still the memory drain issue in the web client that was a issue last year? I had to reset my computer if I was in the chat for more than a couple hours and found out later I should have just run the chat in irc program.

Aside from everything being too small to use easily, it worked on my iPhone. Not that I have any intention of using my phone for the chat, but I was curious.

Ok, worked for a bit (but was clunky), then froze, I went back to home screen and then opened Safari again, and I'd been kicked.

No worries then. Changing my screen name to DutchGuy (no space) seemed to run a lot smoother now that I think about it

I don't really care about IE anyway, just thought I'd test it.

browserstack doesn't go that far back, but 3.6 on Win7 and WinXP works, and 5.0 works on Snow Leopard so... :/

Try clearing your cache?? :/
