Thanks. I can render out the mesh. I also have a low poly version I can render too.

It is done. It took about 18 hours in Maya plus about 5 hours of rendering in Mental Ray:

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!

And that looks like a really good model so far, I'm impressed. : )

Hey guys, a friend and I have started writing a short comic strip focusing on Jack and Bill, two builders who are constantly running around after super heroes clearing up their messes.
We would really appreciate any feedback or support you might give.

I'm afraid I can't really work out how to leave an image in this, but you can see them either at my deviant art.

To post images directly to here you need to right click and either go "view image" or "copy image location". If you went "view image" you'll need to look at the address bar; that has the same address as "copy image location" will put in your clipboard. Then you paste that address (which will end with an image file extension like .jpg or .png or something) into your reply, and put the PHP code for images around it, thusly;

Or if you're on the page you get if you click "post reply" instead of simply using the quick reply box at the bottom of the page, you can highlight the address and click the button named "img" and it'll put the code in for you.

=------------------------------------=

As for the comic itself, I'd suggest a few things; 1) get a new font, and make sure it's readable and large on the page/strip. If it's difficult to read people will give up without giving it a chance. There are numerous free and premium comicbook fonts available, just Google the term and pick one you like. 2) Number the strips in the names, not just on the images. Maybe make a new folder for them in your gallery, and ideally come up with a name for the series and use that in the image names too, but I understand that series names can be tricky.

And finally, 3) Keep working on the art. Keep challenging yourself/selves. Try something even if you're worried you can't. Readers will forgive the art if the story pulls them in.

I'd recommend coming up with your own heroes instead of not-particularly-subtly riffing on existing ones, too, but that's up to you. Just make sure you're not too close to existing heroes. Copying them directly is... also not something I would do, but again; that's up to you.

Thanks a lot for the tips, I will be passing that on to the guy drawing this and will definitely try and take it into account when writing. We had considered using our own (admittedly unsubtle) parodies of existing heroes, but we thought we'd start by using existing heroes everyone knows and see where we go from there.

You need to post the whole address, not just the file name.

Edit: My latest effort. Maybe one day I'll start adding backgrounds. :P

It's a good picture, but I have one thing I'd like to point out (sorry!)

The left hand (the hand on the right of the picture) is a little bit misaligned, so it looks a bit strange. Or in other words the arm thins weirdly so that you'd have a large dip before the hand.

But apart from that I think it's good. : )

Drawn, rather later than I meant to, for Kathleen in memorial of Annikah. It's possible that I made him a bit too skinny. More information here.

Augh! I know it's a stylistic thing and it does look good, but seeing someone as pigeon-toed as Pika up there makes me wince.

Well that's the pose that Kroze picked out. You can see from my sketches that I had a bunch of others. ;)

Kroze wanted her on the cute end of the cute-actiony spectrum, and while I prefer characters on the other end, he was paying. :P

Is that survivable? Because it looks frakking terrifying.

Note: I find kids' rollercoasters terrifying.
