Fake Strip Search Magic: The Gathering cards, just for fun

I have only one excuse to offer for this:
I am a nerd. Evidently too much of one.
With that in mind, I made some fake Magic cards using MTG Card Maker.
They're pretty much allll Strip Search.
And since I am a nerd, I tried to cram them with as many inside jokes as possible while still making them playable.

And just because I was bored and I had the Magic card-making website open anyway, I figured "Why not actually make a playable version of The Veg Shed card from Feed Dump 100?



If you people actually like these, I might make cards for Mike, Jerry and Graham too. Unless my cards suck and you all have better ideas. Which is entirely possible.

One question I do have however and it is a minor one - why did you use photos for some as opposed to their artwork?

The flavor on Lexxy is amazing.

I think Amy and Erica should have banding though, soulbond means they could group with anyone.

I don't "get" Alex's or Abby's.
Also, is Abby's ability a permanent +1/+1 boost? If so, that's kind of OP.
It should say "dies" rather than "is destroyed" on the cards.
Monica's should say "blocks alone" on it.

Otherwise, I love them, and would love to see cards for Jerry, Mike, Graham (should totally have Hexproof, since he doesn't take part in the competition, and maybe "Protection from Artists"), Kathleen (with some sort of "destroy artifact" ability), Robert Khoo, and possibly others like the Sadsads, Paul (creature type Cameraman), etc.

Jerry and Mike should be planeswalkers.

I think Abby's is based on the fact that she's growing throughout the competition, and Alex because he was the first to be chosen and eliminated, thus protecting the others.

Or something like that anyway.

OK... Not quite how I'd envision turning those concepts into card dynamics, but it works.

Geoff is right. It's partly to do with the fact that I really like Alex and Abby, and partly to do with the fact that thinking up abilities that correspond to real-life events is hard when you're doing two essays at once.
That said, I made a few mistakes which I now need to correct. You're completely right of course, Abby's second ability should say "until end of turn" (that all-important disclaimer).
I used photos for some instead of their artwork because I don't really like Ty's artwork for himself, and I did him second, so I was all "wait, it's gonna look super-weird if Ty is the only one who's live-action."
I guess I could stop being a pedant and change them all to their drawings.
(But Erika Moen's card doesn't feel quite the same to me if the image isn't capturing the exact moment when she says "Butt virginity".)

Plus I spelled Lexxy's name wrong in the flavour text for Pineapple Maki. Whoops.

Aw snap, I just watched the latest episode of Strip Search, and without spoiling it, I outright have to change someone's abilities to reflect that.

I'd say that Alex's ability should be a 'sacrifice this creature' ability.

My two suggestions: Make Erica's Soulbond offer First Strike rather than Intimidate. That sets up AmErika as staggeringly powerful, and is more in Boros theme.

And yeah, even with Ty, use the standees.

Oh, and a thought: Changing Abby's ability to being "Tap, move +1/+1 counter from target artist to Abby Howard" would work well. She's picking up and learning from the other artists. Plus it's WICKED powerful with Lexxy.

I will attempt to change them to the stand-ups, but it will happen slowly.

I'd probably make her Gruul, my suspicion is that would work pretty well with whatever ability you're thinking of.

I was thinking more along the lines of Redraw (that one ability I made up for this fake set).

I've updated all the artists! Abby now has Redraw, Erika now Soulbonds for First Strike, and I fixed a couple of spelling errors and re-worded some abilities.
All in all, I think it turned out pretty well.

(My favourite card is totally Abby. )

Right, now I'm going to bed. I've made corrections to Lexxy's card about 3 more times than I can bear.

I guess I could just change the colour from red to green. I mean, giving fellow creatures +1/+1 at 5 roughly makes sense for both guilds when you're casting a 5-drop, right?

Also, I know for a fact that Alex has seen these as well, and I'm just right now.

Edit:- Damnit, somebody pointed out that Pineapple Maki only lasts until the next upkeep because Fading is strictly an enter-the-battlefield mechanic.

Considering that Collective Blessing is a Selesnya card and pumps, I'm sure it'd work alright. Though I'd recommend making it 'other artists you control' as his current wording does include himself being pumped. Though I suppose a 4/4 for 4 with an ability like that isn't unheard of (especially since it seems like a slightly more limited Angel Of Jubilation).
