Corax's Recipe for Bacon

ok ur prolly thinkin: wtf, recipe for bacon?? u put it in a pan and cook it till its done. thats what i thought, i was wrong.

its also not erally my recipe, its from the Good Eats episode on bacon.

Place the bacon on a rack like this:

and a tray underneath to catch those drippings as shown above.

Place in a cold oven and set the temp to 400 degrees F

once the oven reaches 400 degrees F, check the bacon every 3 minutes, this will vary depending on how much fat is in the bacon. i just cooked bacon with this recipe about a half hour ago and it was ready 27 mins after i put the bacon in the oven. i hope you find this to be the best bacon you have ever had, i did.

(also you could smoke your own bacon, but i haven't gotten THAT into it yet)

I pan fry mine. I use a plastic spatula to push down on the bacons fat to crisp it. I do this ones I see bubles on the bacons surface. allways creates great crispy bacon for me and It's quick.

It's been a while since I've had proper bacon, I've been having a lot of the ready-crisp microwave kind and it's pretty good.

Arhh microwave crap isn't right. Cooking bacon in an oven is fine.

Startlingly, I'm agreeing.

You can also just set the bacon on a sheet of aluminum foil on a cookie sheet or in a roasting pan and bake that way. All the fat winds up in the aluminum foil and you can just toss it.

This really is a good way to make bacon!

I don't think this is really a recipe, and that its more of a method of cooking the bacon.

There's no goddamn recipe for bacon. It's strips of pig that you heat till crispy. It's not fucking rocket science.

ah, good way to lessen the cleanup. i will do this from now on i think.

My bacon is made of fresh baby butts, I even used baby powder before I chop them up too! So I win the thread.

Some people don't like it crispy. They fry it for about 30 seconds.

I just cooked the most beuatful bacon ever. Though my heart ache with the realisation that I'll never cook something so good again. I need to write down how much I drank so I can do it again, and cooke more amazing bacon.

Can someone do a method for chicken breast as mine is always a little dry otherwise undercooked (food poisoning).

A opan of Water underneath the chicken usually helps, as the heat rises, the steam seaps into the chicken making it delicios and moist.

Cool will try that. I tried cutting the breast into two like professional chefs do but that led into a big mushy thing lol.

Also, leave the skin on while it's cooking, it adds no fat, and helps retain mouusture and flavour.

Marinate for a little while? I use the Knorr 30-Minute "so simple a hobo could do it" marinades.

Sometimes I have chicken marinaded with lemon juice. Makes a small difference. Not allways does chicken want to be marinaded (eg pasta).
